Kimber's are mass produce 1911's but the company builds quality products. I've read that they are lots or happy customers and also lots of quality issues reported south of the border. I've never seen quality issues up here but the market's not quite on par with what you see down south though. I personally woudn't buy the higher-end Kimbers priced over $1500. For that kind of money you have lots of other choices (STI, DW, Springer TRP...) that are more appealing to me. For example in the Kimber lineup, the Stainless Target II priced at around $1300 are very well made and I would recommend one of those for a high-end factory build and good looking 1911.
