My Kimber Stainless Gold Match II 1911 pistol just hit the 1100 rounds count since new.

I figure it was the right time to give it a full strip and good clean up - its first detailed strip ever.

An amazingly well crafted shooter with tight tolerances and detailed finish on all parts. It did not come cheap but I believe in "pay once, cry once" and this pistol makes it perfectly true.

Anyway, since it was striped and clean, I decided to take a few shots of it and share with fellow Nutterz.

For your viewing pleasure, enjoy.

Cheers,

At some point in the future I will have to do what you have done here. I may end up with a few spare parts though. Maybe I should get myself a $250 Chinese model to practice on first!

1911 are to most simple pistols to fully strip. Plenty of good videos on youtube. One guy does it with no other tool than an empty shell.

If you are careful with spring loaded components, nothing should go ballistic and disappear on you. Use a large clean well lighted workbench. Make sure tiny parts like pins and springs are well contained on the bench, i.e. they don't roll off to WTF-R-U_land and you're G2G.

That said, I don't recommend full strip. Good cleaning products, good oil and compressed air are your friends.

i picked up the Kimber base model a couple years back and love that gun.
so nice.
so very very nice!

after my kids are gown up and leave the nest ill be investing in a top shelf 1911 as a treat to myself and im leaning towards a Kimber Gold or a Grand Raptor.
