Been thinking about a 'higher end" 1911 pistol. Been looking at the Kimber Gold Match II with the nice sites & ambi controls [perfect for a leftie... ;)]

Anybody got one? [And what do they come with?]

Range reports? [How's it gonna stack up to the 1911's I'm used to?]

And who's got the best deal going in Canada on these right now?

I have one, got it recently. I'm also left handed and the ambi safety was nice to have. Only comes with one mag, plastic case, cable lock and a little baggy of oil.

I have only spent an hour with it, more used to my 9mm, but I got a 4.25" group at 20yrds. I'll be able to get better groups with more time spent shooting it.

The Shooting Edge has the best price I could find, that's where I picked mine up. I also got two extra mags from them.

Thanks, Matt. The Shooting Edge is a site sponsor so that would probably be my "got to" place to buy. Why did you pic the blue over the stainless? BTW, I saw your pics... beautiful pistol!

Why did you pic the blue over the stainless?

Because no dealer had one in stock and I was told a 6 month - 1 year wait for one, so I bought the blued to hold me over until my backorder on a stainless is filled.

I'm also considering a Kimber.

Does anyone know if Kimber's slides and frames are forged or cast - their website says nothing of the matter - and their "serrations" (few and wide) on their slides look alot like Paras (cast).

So fellas.... is it because Kimbers are so desireable or because dealers are advertizing guns that they do not have in stock.... or both?

It is because Kimber as a company is poorly run. Their production is behind schedule, the export services are a joke, and it takes forever to get a shipment of their product in, yet they demand payment months before they will ship.
It is faster and easier to get Nighthawk guns custom built and shipped.

Everything I've ever seen about Nighthawk is overwhelmingly positive( ) I'm going to have to think about getting one of those, they seem to be a really well organized operation with excellent quality products. I've actually NEVER seen anyone complain about them - and they make guns, incredible.
