Kimber SVT .22 finally arrived. I ordered it in October of 2006.
The only problem is it's going to be a while before I can scope it. I'll be putting a Leupold 6.5-20x EFR scope on it. This little sucker better shoot really well. Anyone have any experience with this rifle?

I'll see what I can do but it might take a while since I don't own my own digital camera. Here's a picture of the website. Add in the www. kimberamerica.com/rifles/kimber1722/svt.php

It's ugly yet nice looking at the same time. :)

If that scope is not made for rimfires, you may want to reconsider. Rimfires are harder on scopes than large bore.

I'm having a hard time resolving this assertion in my mind, based on personal experience. I know about air rifles and their two-directional recoil that shakes scopes apart, but a Leupold on a Rimfire? I have used the VariX-II 3-9 AO, the VariX-III 3.5-10, the VariX III 6.5-20 EFR and a whole whack of other Leupolds with AO's on my rimfires with nary a glitch. I would think that if it was a problem, it would have appeared sometime in the past 15 years. However, scopes specifically designed for rimfires Without adjustable objective lenses have a parallax setting that is less distant than the same scopes designed for centerfire. Perhaps that is what you are thinking of. Regards, Eagleye.

As eagle eye mentioned, I wouldn't hesitate to put a Leupold on a .22. Air guns can be very hard on scopes but I don't see too much how a .22 could do too much damage. The scope should have AO which will be pefect for in close shots and you can adjust paralex out at that distance.

Congratulations on the new gun! I am sure you will like it :) :)

I would just double check the parallax on in any given scope as I have some Leo's that do not do all that well at 50 yds and under. Fine over that. That is the one place I find Weaver shines at times.

I'll be on days off soon. I'll try and get a few pics up then.

The Leo 6.5-20x EFR is designed to focus down to 10 metres.
I have a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x on my Ruger K10/22T. I've had no problems with it in terms of the recoil or lack of it in a .22. Like others have said air rifles are hard due to the forward recoil which is different than a rimfire or centerfire. A .22 is the same direction for recoil only there is much less of it than a centerfire.

With the Burris I do get parallex issues and can't focus in the higher settings at close range very well. However it still holds it's own as long as my sight picture is good. The glass is decent on it too.

Hey Eagle Eye,
What did you think of the Leu 6.5-20x EFR on your rimfire? That's what I'm looking at for this rifle.

Leupolds

Howdy,
Totally agree w.Eagle Eye and CZ452. The Leup's work just fine on 22's.
I had a 6.5x20 on my KoO SVT, and still use one on my 1712 Annie. Mine are not EFR, but I shoot them at 50 yds min. amyway, so parallax not a problem. My Dad has Leupolds on his Annies too. The EFR is just the ticket for getting down to close distances. I use a 8.5x25 w. EFR on my 54MSR Annie which works great for short distances. Sounds like you will have a real neat set-up.

Yes Ronin I do.

I ordered it from SIR in October. It arrived last week.
You'll have to be a bit patient, I don't own a camera and I do have to work for a living.

A few days and I'll have some pics for you guys.

No digital camera, but now own a Kimber SVT... It looks like you have gotten your priority straight :D

For the rest of the crowd that haven't looked up Kimber's website, his rifle should something like this (but with a scope on it)

Still can't wait to see a picture of your rifle in action... ;)

Well SillyMike,
technology dates quickly. Rifles don't.
I'll try and get some pictures tomorrow. You'll find my rifle doesn't have a scope on it right now. I just received the SVT and my XR-100 within the same week. Also the scope on my winchester model 70 seems to be dead (Simmons mag 44). So I'll have to get 3 scopes. That's going to take a few months. The SVT I'm more interested in having shooting for indoors during winter. The Winchester 243WSSM and XR-100 I'd like to get up and running ASAP while the weather is nice.

So many rifles so little time.

I have the pictures. I'll try and post them here.
PS. Ronin owes me an apology. I also hope Ronin has dial up

I handled one at SIR when it came out... it's a tad expensive, but VERY nice. Money well spent.

Now how about a freeeak'n range report already! :p :D

Range report will be a ways off. Financially I have to take it easy for a bit. The scopes I have in mind are as much as the rifles  .
