I am considering buying a good quality, but basic 1911, in a shorter barrel configuration (I don't want a Norinco, even it a tuned one). I am considering three guns:

1) STI Ranger II ($1209)
2) Kimber Pro Carry II ($1149)
3) Para LTC ($949)

Price is not an issue in this decision, and I really don't care which country it is made in. All else being equal, which of the three is the better gun?

Having owned variants on all three...I would go with either the STI or the
Kimber.. both seem to be a little higher in quality and fit and finish over the
Para. Having said that, it's going to come down to personal taste... preferences in type of finish, sights, etc... sort of like picking a putter in golf.;)

I'd have to agree, Buy the STI

I own a Para which I love, and I've seriously considered buying a Kimber several times. I didn't buy the STI because features I wanted only came on top priced STI's, and Price was my limiting factor. Plus I always like to buy new to add another firearm to Canada's gun registry!

The STI Tactical comes in the commander length... (my dream gun, had to put that out there :) )

STI Tactical

If you looking for a Good quality pistal that will last , STI Tactical is the one, I know a guy had one, When He just got it, I got the ammo together and went to the range with him, 750 round of 40 smith and west, not even 1 miss fire or Hick up, at the moment, he had over 15,000 though the pistal and there no problem, the price are some what high, but it is worthed!

Gunn,

The Tactical is my dream gun as well. Hopefully, if I can flogg some more stuff (Don't really want to sell the Glock, just got it :)), I'll have one by the summer.

Uncle, get the STI.
