Anyone ever try Kinetic sand as fill for a shooting bag? I just made a mix of 50-50 kinetic sand with regular fine sand for a few cheap amazon bags.and wow! It sure seems to do the trick. I raided my kids stash and had to take him to toys r us today to replace it!

I'd never heard of kinetic sand. So I did a 'net search. I can see that it might work very well for bag filling.

I don't know what that is.

I know of one guy that filled his Game Changer (shmedium I think) with what I heard referred to as 'sand blasting media', and apparently it is super heavy, even heavier than "heavy fill" from Armageddon.

Does sand blasting sand not have silicate in it? if so I would NOT use it

I use flax seed. Very heavy, molds nicely to the rifle contours, and does not rot or spoil if you keep it dry. Current bags are over 10 years old and still fine.

I have used copper slag blasting media, was too heavy for an OG game changer. Might work well for a rear bag. Holds shape really well.
I'm going to try to find something lighter for the OG, possibly beanbag filler.

I have used canary seed, it is not as heavy as sand, never tried flax, I have eaten lots of it, keeps things regular.
Sand blasting sand, there are many different types, some is glass , I used reg. sand most of the time.

I use whole kernel, dried corn from the feed store. Works great in my bags and without worries about dust or sand grit leakin' out and gettin' on the gun.
My Caldwell tack driver bag weighs 16.6 lb with the corn & double that+ with sand.

Thats a great idea. Might have to give that a try. I did see a couple videos of "DemolitionRanch" where he shot piles of kinetic sand with every gun you can think of to see how it holds up

Are there any recommendations for cheap alternatives to the Armageddon game changer to use the kinetic sand in?

I actually had my wife's sewing machine out today and made my own from the leg of an old pair of Carhartt pants. I don't think it gets much cheaper than that. I haven't used it for shooting yet, but it feels pretty good. I filled mine with sandblasting sand.

I used that blue aquarium gravel. It wasn't too pricey, has a decent weight and won't spoil/rot if it gets wet. I also really have no clue what I am doing when it comes to this precision stuff, I kinda just wing it.
