Sorry if this is a rehash of another posting but I was wondering if anyone is using these rifle scopes.
I'm looking specifically at the dangerous game version. (1.5 X 4)
Any thoughts? Good? Bad?

I like the idea of buying Canadian.

I'd be very surprised if there was a scope made in Canada, assembled maybe, not nearly enough market here. What's wrong with Leupold or Bushnell?

Nothing at all wrong with Leupold.
I already own quite a few VX-111's and may indeed soon own another.
As I said earlier I like the idea of buying a Canadian built scope made in Nova Scotia which offers a lifetime warranty.
Granted, if no one knows of or buys their product the warranty may be their lifetime, not mine.
I'm not looking at the cluttered up range finding reticles but rather a plain illuminated post crosshair version.

A rep from that company posted here and he subsequently ruined an opportunity to make some significant inroads. We asked some direct questions and did not get answers.

"Designed" in Canada, but 100% made in China...when it comes to optics, you really do get what you pay for...Except these guys want you to pay $1400 for a chinese scope, with ghey flutes on the tube...:p

Thats the sort of stuff I need to know.
Although they say assembled in Canada they dont specify "Made in Canada" and buying one in my neck of the woods would be a straight mail order proposition.
I'm looking at re-scoping my .338 and if it was decent glass doing up a BRNO .375 as well.

How did it go from being canadian made, to designed in Canada, to assembled in Canada, to China??? All of this in Nova Scotia, must be a scope making hotbed!

I had looked through some at a show.

They are crap IMO and way overpriced.

Somewhere I have an old Simmons around that came with a Savage package and that I keep as a spare; to my eyes that's a better scope.

My 2c

The lifetime warranty, is that the lifetime of the company or you, either way you could be out of luck any day now since it seems like nobody here is buying any of their scopes. The prices seem way too high for an unknown, unproven scope, they have that communist China/Russia military look to them.

Hooo Boy!
Nine pages of bad news there so I'll be rethinking that purchase.
The "dangerous game" model didnt look too bad at first take and thats primarily what I was asking about.
I agree the fluted body jobs make no sense whatsoever.

From now on I'll stick to safe topics like politics and religion.

I sold my Enfield Sporter to Twister of Twisters Gun Shop in Calgary Alberta. A small gunsmithing/gunshop that's actually expanding... spent about half an hour or more on the phone with him after hammering out the details of the transaction, and we just shot the sh!t for the most part. Divulged that he was ex-Canadian Forces Sniper and told me about some of the things they put their rifles and especially their scopes through. And then he told me what he's done to the King Optics scopes. He said that he's zeroed it on one of his rifles, then took it off and went to the gymnasium of his daughter's school, went near to the top as he could go, dropped it, picked it back up then put it back on his rifle with no movement of zero. He was also saying that the lenses are only surpassed in clarity by Swarovski, and that he'd never try that kind of test with a Leupold as it would smash and come apart @.@. Now, could be a tall tale, but from talking to him about this and that, I trust the guy myself, so have no real reason to doubt him. And I feel reasonably confident in saying that if you get a hold of him and ask for a demonstration then he'll most likely be accommodating to it. His website is:

h ttp://www.twistguns.com/

Someone in the area give him a shout and see what comes of it eh? I'd personally love to see a "Canadian" product do as good or better than the "Top Names" in optics right now. Anywho, thought I'd put that out there @.@

wow, that's quite the story he told:rolleyes:

did he drop it on a hard floor, like concrete or wood, or did he drop it in the foam pit:confused:

btw i checked out his site, and what's up with the ncis theme music playing in the background:confused:

"All Scopes - Binos - Spots come with a no hassle, Lifetime Warranty and we seriously mean that...All are 100% Made in Canada...We here at Twisters love that part. There isn't a single piece of any King Scope, Bino or Spot that is made in China period!!! " well that settles it, i guess they are made in canada, but pictures or even a video of the factory (like leupold has done) would be nice:)

and look at that, they have 2 scope models with fluted bodies now, sweet:rolleyes:

Twister's site is another one full of bad grammar and spelling mistakes, and then there's the ranting about his ### daughters...This guy's word means nothing to me...Who the hell puts this on their business site...WTF?:rolleyes:

A Personal Note From The Master:

I am openly a huge supporter of Femme [Lesbian] Rights. My two oldest daughters are ### and no I don't have a problem with it and yes, start in with the wiseass cracks and name calling and I will throw you out unceromoniously on your fat ass!!! In the shop or house or in my presence, I DO NOT nor WILL NOT put up with any disrespect of Tatyana & her beautiful Girlfriend or Michy & her lovely Wife Nikki, or any other Woman for that matter. If Femme bashing is your thing just remember one thing...you'd be in the wrong company to make such boorish, ####### remarks. Women are the only true "Works of Art" in this world and I for one damn sure won't stand for any abuse of any of beautiful Daughters or their Ladies.

Haha, TFF...

It's never been the Certificates that make him Master at his trade. As he himself will tell you...it's the Customers and Clients that decide he's a Master Gunsmith & Master Engraver. Twister does not belong to or believe in the practices of the various Engravers Guilds around the world. He's not so anal retentive as to have a Guild decide for him his qaulifications or quality and craftmanship in his work...he would just as soon you decide that...afterall...you're the one paying for the work now aren't you?

I recently bumped into "twister" at the Thornecliff gun show. He told me that he was the "only" certified and only fulltime gunsmith in Calgary. I guess he forgot about ATRS being full time firearms manufacturers. Along with several other "fulltime" gunsmiths that are also located in Calgary, like Marcus at TSE and a few others. I played along as he obviously did not know who I was and started asking questions about having a rifle built. It soon became VERY apparent that he was WAAAAY out of his league. nuff said there.

During the conversation I was looking at a King Optics scope display. They had a scope tube with no guts in it to show something or other. To me the interanl machine work looked like it had been done with a dull axe. The tool marks were easily .015 plus deep.
The ocular housing threads were sloppy to say the least as 1 could move the ocular housing side to side alot more than I believe any scope housing should. Now I realize that once orings for sealing are installed it will be less obvious that the ocular is loosely fit, but.....
Once I introduced myself it got real quiet at that table, wonder why??

Back to the original question, to outfit a "Dangerous Game Rifle" using a King Optics scope in my opinion would be making it truly A "dangerous game" rifle, not to the game but to the shooter.
Having done the DG thing I would never consider cheap optics on a rifle that my life depended on. In my opinion King Optics are just that cheap optics with a unjustifyable price tag
