Got myself in the AR game finally with a KAC Stoner lower, "mil spec" lower parts kit and a Colt MMR complete upper but have an issue with the trigger.... "it sucks" both crunchy and creepy with a heavy break. (it actually sticks a little as well!)

I was wondering about the KAC triggers - has anyone shot one? how does it stand up to an aftermarket drop in trigger?

Well the cheapest answer would be to run that trigger a bunch until it works itself in, but if you’re buying KAC and CC stuff then the KAC 2 stage or Geissele SSA/SSA-E are excellent and high quality replacements

I have over eleventy million rounds through a KAC trigger, its awesome and gets better with time, the Giesselle SSA or (E) models start out a bit better out of the box but I prefer the KAC trigger to any other. The KAC two stage units show up pretty cheap on the EE every now and again ...

I prefer the geisseles myself. But the kacs are quite nice. Try the alg act or the bcm pnt for an alternate single stage option. Especially if one comes on sale.

Well that is good news! I was looking at $350USD for what looked like a mil spec trigger... was not sure if it would have been worth it.

The KAC 2 stage is far better than "mil spec" from any parts kit . It is very similar 2 stage to a Geissele SSA at about 4.5 lbs total weight ( 1st + 2nd stage )

I only put about 2k rounds through one so can't really comment about long term, before I went with a Geissele Hi Speed NM .

Not a fair comparison since the Hi Speed is fully adjustable and can be set stupid light which the KAC and SSA cannot . I use this for my bench AR's

I installed a Geissele SD3G and , again not good comparison since one is traditional 2 stage , other is a very short reset that is like single stage and bit lighter. Was in heaven after that

When I picked up new SR15 lower, first thing I did was popped out the KAC trigger and put in another SD3G

The KAC is definitely nice , but for value go with SSA if you want non adjustable 4.5 ish 2 stage.

If you want something different like a single stage, or S3G then look elsewhere. Again its a apples to orange comparison

For single stage go Timney , Hiperfire Elite, Geissele SSP . I don't heave enough rounds through my SSP yet but the Timeny and Hiperfire are certainly GTG

For 2 stage lighter than the KAC , then go SSA-E ( about 3 lbs ) or ultimate 2 stage the Hi Speed NM with "match spring kit" . You can get second stage down to 1/2 lbs !

Take a look at a TriggerTech AR trigger? I use the ALG trigger with the lighter spring, and it's pretty good, YMMV.
