I have TWO of them... I must practice what I preach:
Don't buy ONE, buy TWO of them... yuk yuk yuk.
When you are prepared to drop only $ 100 or so on a scope, then your choices might be in the neighbourhood of : TASCO, Bushnell, NCStar, Leapers, FITCO, etc.
So with that context in mind, ensure that the optics you get are consistent with the shzts and giggles you expect....
I've got 2 of the Leupold Mark4 Knockoff scopes. One sits on top of my .223 SPS Critter gitter M700 Earthpig dedicated carry sniper wannabe rig. I'm taking shots up to 300 steps away and then immediately at 25 steps close. I need the side focus RFN (right now). The only scope with a side focus and 30mm maintube will set me back close to $ 800, and that's the original Mark4 M1's that I compete with on a regular basis.
The other knockoff sits on top of my sniper practice rig, my CZ452 Varmint .22 LR. Train like you compete, compete like you train. KC and LM at 3W.milcun.com taught me that mantra. Now that the CZ is set up like a precision rifle (including bipod and cheekpiece), I can practice all day long at 50m picking off little bits of shot up clay pigeons. Lots of breathing, aiming, holding, squeezing, and following through practice.
So should you get one? Only if you keep in mind the 'shzts and giggles' part of the equation.
For the $ 100 each, I paid for my scopes, I don't give a rat's ass. I don't need the repeatability (otherwise I would've picked a Leupold Mark4) in the practice and hunting experiences.
Cheers ,
Barney
