I put the Specops stock on my 14 inch 870 last week and noticed a big difference. 30 rds of mixed 2 3/4 and 3inch slugs shooting with just a t-shirt and no damage too my shoulder other than a small red mark. Before the switch it was a real pain in the ass too shoot. But like posted above some praise it and others dont.
I have the SpecOps on mine. I haven't shot the Compstock, but I think the adjustable LOP on the SpecOps lets you get the gun fitting you properly, which goes a long way towards reducing felt recoil regardless of the reduction mechanism.
The compstock works well but as it is a more traditional configuration the felt difference isn't as great IMO. The spec ops has a pistol grip and compared to a non recoil reducing pistol grip the difference feels huge.

Picked up and 870 Max Gobbler with the Knoxx Spec ops last Feb. as a deer/turkey gun. Big reduction in felt recoil with 3.5" 2oz turkey loads even compared to my Benelli SBEII with the comfortech stock and great to hold/aim from a sitting position for long periods of time.
Guess it could double as a "Zombie Gun"?
