Anyone taken one to the range (or wherever) and shot one? How did it do compared to VZ-58/CZ-858? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Only real difference as far as I can tell is the mag won't eject in the SKS unless the bolt is open. That's your major difference.

Pretty sure the OP is talking about the new Canadian made Vz's. Which im also curious to see how they hold up in the future durability wise in comparison to the CSA VZ's...............

Yes, that is what i was referring too..... i know they are supposed to be basically same, but the receiver is supposed to be a bit different.....

I would like to. Very much so, especially because of the Canadian content involved in this rifle.

Right now, I am in a warranty claim process, and I must say, if the final outcome is as good as it all seems to be, so far, I will post my results. That outcome is currently what is holding me on the fence.

I must point out I am talking about a different rifle, and I am also directly dealing with the General Manager for the manufacturer. Same manufacturer as WR762. By all accounts, all is good, at this time. They seem to stand behind their product.

Got to lay my hands on a few of the Kodiak rifles, not exactly ecstatic. One of them had a completely loose front windage drum, it'd slide side to side with the rifle/by hand. Had issues with being difficult to rack on two of them, and got caught mid way on the return. At least two had rusty bores, I'm guessing they used corrosive to test the rifles? All of them had issues with being difficult/impossible to take down without tools, the pins were extremely tight. Machining on the deck of the receiver was hit or miss, though some were acceptable. One of the bolt carriers looked like it had been smashed repeatedly with the edge of a hammer, and was then refinished. Some of the upper handguards could be rotated by hand/were loose.

The biggest pet peeve I had was with the machining on the receivers, the surface finish was full of tool marks, they apparently couldn't machine 90 degree corners into the receiver and instead opted for drilling holes, literally cutting corners. You could snag your nail repeatedly along the top deck of the receiver.

Please tell me those are the exception and not the rule. From what I saw, these should be 600-700 dollar rifles, because you're far better off getting a used CZ with this level of quality control. I saw the exact same lack of care with the SKS-15's, every single one had a cockeyed handguard, completely off center.

The biggest milestone will be how well the rails on the receiver will hold up. This was a known problem on some american made receivers about a decade ago: they werent heat treated correctly and as a result the bolt carrier gouged out and destroyed the receiver eventually.

If there are issues it would be unfortunate.....but these are the first run models and it would be easy to assume those with a vested interests in them are committed to improving and keeping there customers happy by remedying any issues!!

All mentioned issued can be remedied with stickers. The catch is you have to put them on original, CZ made rifle.

If anyone cares, I can say with absolute certainty that Kodiak Defence cares about customer satisfaction.

Steve, was made aware of an issue I had with one of their rifles (Not WR762, BTW). Immediately reached out to me, and had me send my rifle to them. They fixed the issue and had it back on its way to me the same day they received it, thanks Chad.

No questions asked. Didn't even have to supply any info for proof of purchase. They took care of it, because it was their rifle. And I should mention that the specific part that failed could absolutely in no way be their direct responsibility. Not a part manufactured by them. Sent - fixed - returned. I just opened it back up, and it is back in my hands.

This tells me they are a company that is serious about customer satisfaction. I am highly impressed, and in reciprocation, highly recommend them. Outstanding.

If they ever read this forum - THANKS Steve and Chad, from a very satisfied customer.
