How do you guys like them? Do they cause any bumps to the scope that will move the recticle?

Also would it fit a oversize scope, such as a 3200 5-15x40?
 
The kolpin gun boot is by far the best tool available if you want to damage a scope or knock your gun off of zero.I speak from experience as I have seen two scopes damaged and several having the zero wander after using the gun boot.The reason for this is that the scope bottoms out in the gun boot before the barrel,so the scope must hold all of the guns weight and absorbs all of the bumps and impacts that are encountered.If you insist on using this product,stuff the barrel channel with material until the barrel bottoms out before the scope.
 
from my experience they're great. get the TrasnSport model it's go the hard shell and a removable soft case that fits inside the shell

It's not a question of the scope not fitting in the case,rather it is whether the scope bottoms out in the gun boot before the barrel bottoms out.It won't be a factor in relatively smooth terrain,but in very rough terrain,the scope really takes a beating.Many people report no problems at all because they don't travel across really rough terrain while getting to and from their hunting location.Other people notice changes in zero but blame those changes on other factors.Some people don't even realize when the scopes zero changes a couple of inches at 100 yards.
 
I had a Leupold Straight 6 power M8 in which i had to mash a towel into the boot so the barrel would bottom first as the scope was resting on the inside of the boot due to the scope's longer tube.
 
Im going to use my hardcase (with foam inside) case and just bungee it to the quad. That way my gun/scope wont bang around on the way there.
 
I have used my gun boot(Kolpin) for many years and have never had any scope problems. I have road over some very rough terrain. I would use it long before I strapped my gun to my quad with bungee cords, even if it is in a hard case.
 
I've found the boot to be very unfriendly to my scope's zero while on rough terrain on ski-doo. I've taken to carrying only non-scoped rifles in it and I carry my scoped rifle in a foam rifle scabbard on my back. Big difference!
 
I have never experienced a problem with my gun boot. And i ride very rough hard terrain. I take my gun whether im hunting or not and have riden 3000 km. Never a problem.

Also. The scope on my gun is a 8-32 x40 and is probably 6 inches longer than a regular 3-9 x40 or what have you. Never a problem.
 
my gun shoots just fine after 50 mi in the sleigh behind the ski-doo or being dropped on the floor in the gun boot. i've seen gun boots without padding in them that could be some people have problems or some scopes could be a little more fragile than others too.
 
Never had any scope issues with mine. But it damaged the muzzle crown on my Ruger and also my brothers Ruger!! I had a Model IV for 5 years and bought the "Transporter" for last fall and the crown ended up in the same shape as before I got it re-crowned. Definately needs more cushion at the muzzle. Some of our guys just use the rubber coated forks that bolts on the front rack. I like my gun boot because it protects against the elements and also acts as a gun case. Just my .02 cents.

Another never had a problem after many, many years of hard miles on an atv. Perhaps it's got something to do with the angle your boot is bolted on?? I see a lot of guys using the goofy boot bracket you buy!! They usually end up being at a 45* angle on the back rack. Mine is at a near horizontal on the front rack with the back of the boot right beside the handlebar.
 
I use mine on the Quad and in the Snowmobile sleigh never had an problems. It is a transport model with removeable case and the rifle has a 4x12x40 Bushnell scope.
 
I see several damaged guns from Kolpin gun boots and other ATV dilemmas every year. Usually it is a case of the scope bottoming out before the crown of the barrel. And as mentioned the angle and the rifle fit inside the case have a lot to do with it also.
I would like to suggest that anybody hunting off an ATV and too stupid to check the fit of their rifle in its case... probably will not be affected by an altered zero or damaged scope anyway. JBRO:p
 
Could one of you guys that has the Gun Boot (preferably the TransSport model) post a pic of how you mounted your gun boot to your ATV(looking to see how you mounted it without having your zero moved)?
