Komoka Ontario gunsmith

Nick did a trigger job for me last summer ,, great guy ,built a lot of African guns. His work is top notch, gun smiths like that are hard to find. All the best to you Nick, hope your health is sound

A number of years ago he worked on an old Colt SAA Artillery (US army marked) revolver for me that had the hammer teeth ground off to make it a "fanner trick gun". He welded it and then hand filed it so that I could keep it as an original historical piece. I would like to thank him again for that......Fitz

I was at Nick's place yesterday. He's had a rough go but is on the mend. Still working on guns. There may be some jobs he's not as keen on doing compared to previously. For instance, not interested anymore in browning Damascus barrels.
I was picking two up, dropping one off, and having a set of barrels assessed for wall thickness.
Nick is more known to be a metal guy but the stock repair he just did for me was remarkable.

I was kinda waiting for you to weigh in on this John. Good to see Nick's still kicking.

Nick has done a lot of work for me in the past. Good to hear he is still active. Reminds me I should give him a call.

I am glad he's still active and what he's more prone to attempt as gentlemen such as himself are a rare breed. He put my coach gun on face and browned it up quite deeply. One can almost call this Parkhurst shotgun beautiful! Every time I even look in its direction I am reminded of the western classic: Valdez is Coming. Lol. Also brought my sidehammer drilling on face and honed the chokes.
It's a better place knowing we have him here in this country.
Thanks for the news folks!

Some of you might or might not know of this Birmingham trained gunsmith Nick Makin###.
His superb services are above reproach.
However his website account appears to be suspended!!
Hoping it's just retirement here !!!

I could be what you call a neighbour in the village. I had Nick fit a shotgun for me in late September and I know he had some Heath challenges at that time. With Covid he might be limiting his contact with the public. I suggest if you need some work done give him a call his wife is great to manage his phone if he is available.
I think a Google a search will give his contact number of your in need of getting some work done. PM me if you need it as I do have his card in the truck

Thank you friend. I was a bit more curious if he had any nice gems for sale. And I panicked a tiny bit when his previous website did not appear.
PS: does he still do shotgun woodwork? Or does he recommend someone else ???

Cheers

I hate to betray any confidences but let's just say Nick is 79 years old and spent the last 18 months battling internal bleeding and liver cancer. Surgery, chemo, continued steroid therapy. He's lost 40% of his previously trim body weight. I love him so give him a break if you have a job to ask of him. I absolutely treasure every minute I have spent in his presence.
No, he does not have guns for sale. Interestingly, he was never much of a shooter or a collector.

Thank you sir. Unfortunately we needed to hear this. But we still care about this fine person.
Thx

He did shorten the stock of my Beretta but didn’t inquire beyond that. I am not sure if he is still selling much recently but you never know if you give a call he might have a gem hidden away.
I was in awe when I listened to his story of how he packed his life into a sea container...tools, equipment, furnishings and headed to start a new life. Built his own equipment...he is really one of a kind!
