On page S 9 The Globe & Mail of today{Dec-27} there is a picture of 2 Canadian officers of the PPCLI in Korea, carrying the reliable Long Branch No.4 rifle, i have never seen this photo before, but it shows LT.Col. Jim Stone , DSO, one of Canada's best fighting soldier of WW2 & Korea, with one his staff officer's ,both with No.4 rifles slung ,before the Battle of Kapyong in April 1951. The staff officers{Lt.A.P.Mackenzie} appears to be carrying a No.4 T sniper rifle.I could'nt find the picture on Globe & Mail website so wasn't able to link it over to CGN.

I'd like to get a copy of that pic, but don't get the Globe....

Anyone able to scan it and post it, or find another source for it?

Thanks

I saw and saved the page from the paper. The scope is clearly a CNo.67 last model No.32. The mount is the long rail style Griffin and Howe, not the typical No.4(T) mount. The rifle is a LB with the wide fish-tail safety - which is engaged. BUT, the buttstock is the conventional No.4 style, not the Monte Carlo cheekpiece with the rubber recoil pad.

The other interesting thing is both officers are wearing Denision smocks, the general and the staff officer. I do know that many officers chose to dress like special forces personnel as part of their 'personna'. Whether they were parachute qualified or not, they were making a fashion statement.
