Korth Group Ltd. Scope Repair

Well I have a set of Leupold bx2 Acadia binoculars
Some how I managed to break them in the center were the swivel, picked them up off the seat of the truck, to look at a deer, they were all floppy couldnt focus them fruck, !! This was during deer season
Still Pi**es me off don’t know how they got broke???
Finally decide to send them in to Korth to see if they could repair them. Called the. First talked to lady on the phone she said send them in they will have a look at them.
Put the in the mail on March 1 st fully expecting to get a call on how much they were to repair,
On March 8th pick up the mail, box from Korth , inside brand new set of BX-2 Acadia binoculars, no charge on warranty for life means it as far as I can see!
Like Kamlooky I has some frustrating times with bushnell gave up on them a long time ago, I had a armor sight scope from them that the adjustment ring for the scope power 3-9 I think, after a season it would get really tight and could hardly be adjusted, they would never warranty it , and I would have to pay for repairs, when they repaired it it would only last for one hunting season. Gave up on there stuff after that, never again.
Used Leupold ever since I have a few scopes mostly all leupold 3x9 adjustable, never ever had to send any leupold in for repair.
Excellent service from Korth!!!!
Now that’s what I call excellent service!!

Do they only work on Leopold scopes or on all brands, I have an Old Redfeild and Weaver that I would like to have checked out.

Redfield is now Leupolds "cheap" brand so they are essentially Leupolds.

The "old" Denver Redfields used to be Leupolds main competitor until Leupold bought the Redfield brand name.
Don't know if Korth will repair the legacy Denver Redfields.

I have a legacy Denver Redfield Widefield 3-9x40 still doing service on a legacy pre-64 Winchester model 70.
They were bought as a package many years ago.

I took a screw out of one of my VX-3's. Dumb move as it let the gas out. Sent it off to Korth with a letter of explanation and stating I would pay the repair costs as it was totally my fault. The scope came back in about a week, with a note no charge have a nice day. It was not replacement scope either so you know it was repaired. I have spoke with Korth a few times regarding scope bases and rings. They are always very helpful and friendly folks.
I have one of the Leuplold built Redfields, a 4 x 12 mounted on a M-70 243, it s my wolf rifle. It rides in the Argo all winter, so it is bumped around a lot and as the argo is kept in a heated shop at night the scope is subject to great temperature differences. It has worked flawlessly no issues.

They don't repair any of the redfields made before leupold bought the redfield trademark. Trace optic repair is the place for old unwarranted redfields.

Korth is top notch. Every scope I’ve sent them came back either fixed or replaced in under 10 days at no charge.

I've only dealt with them once, about 4 years ago.
They insisted I send in all the accessories and different risers/ screws etc that came with my prismatic scope even though the problem was flacky loose paint inside the optic on the internal lens.
When I got it back some of the parts were missing and others did not match the finish exactly ( not a big deal but obviously not the parts I sent in), they were a bit snarky when I asked them where the missing parts were and why the one part had been changed even though it had nothing to do with the internal issue with the optic.
From what I have come to understand, the torch was passed from father to son around the time I dealt with them and that Korth is in a new era of management.

Typically their reputation has been stellar in the past, my experience was not too negative but also not entirely positive.

Korth

Have sent a few scopes to them, always excellent to deal with. Wish I could say the same about Swarovski. There are other good optics out there, but these guys stand behind their product. Years ago I had a Redfield that my 8mm Rem mag rattled after many years of usage and Redfield out of Denver was also very good. Can't comment on the others because I have never sent anything in for repair.

Funny in that i had the exact opposite experience. Bushnell being great, Korth being rude fecks.

Sold most of my leupold. Have two on rifles, and two awaiting resale that came on deals.

Korth is a big part of the reason why my rifles almost exclusively have a Leupold on top.
Great service that is local. And a product that is unbeatable.

Thanks for the kind words! We certainly try to help shooters when we can.

Do they repair the scope in house? Or do they send it back to the US?

If they send it back to the US you should make sure that the scope is not ITAR. I have heard many stories of american made scopes, purchased in canada, being sent back to the US for repair work only to have the state department refuse to let it out of the country again due to lack of export paperwork.

We are able to upgrade/repair most all families of optics, the only outliers at the moment are the Mark 5/6/8's. No need to worry about ITAR; the only time you will have an issue is if you have purchased an ITAR regulated optic (Mark 8) form a grey market dealer in Canada, as we are not permitted to sell the Mark 8 line to civilians.

Most repairs are in house. If the unit must go back to the US, Leupold and Korth handle the border crossings.

This is correct - repairs that occur in Oregon (where every Leupold is manufactured) will add a few weeks to the turn around time. We are fortunate that few optics need to be sent back to the mother-ship.
