Charles, Those numbers represent the MINIMUM contour size they can be produced for a given caliber. Krieger is extremely conservative about how thin they will produce a stainless barrel out of fears for safety in cold weather and with extreme cartridges.
in the case of 308, you can have them as thin as a #0 contour in Chromoly and in the case of stainless, the lightest they will produce is a #5 contour. You can have whatever size you want above that contour number.
