I was informed from Ian (Adams Lake barrels) that my krieger barrel would come unfinished. I haven't placed my order yet but I'm leaning towards a Cm barrel and would like to have a nice and extremely durable matte black finish.

I'm looking for options as to whats available and without going overboard ($$$), which will give me better results?

what are my options here? Bluing, bead blasting, duracoat/armacoat, parkerizing,ect... if you've got pics post 'em.

Will Armacoat or duracoat adhere just as well to a SS & CM barrel?

Bellow is a pic of what I don't want to end up with...I borrowed this picture from a WTS add in the EE, the fellow mentions that this is guncoat. With time, Will dura-coat or arma-coat scratch and wear off like this?

That looks like a little bit of a bonding issue there but all coatings will wear. There is no difference in coating CM over SS that I have found. No matter what the claims all coatings can be damaged. The prep work has a lot to do with the durability.

Parkerizing on SS is out. Doesn't work. Neither does bluing.
Krieger SS barrels can come with a satin bead blasted finish. Gives you as flat silver-grey finish. Extra $25US.

...I want a matte black finish, so SS is out unless I Dura-coat or Armacoat it.

For a CM barrel what do you guys usually get done for a nice flat black finish?

All finishes will wear. You may want to consider parkerizing and teflon coating. You may also want to think about kg guncoat. It is supposed to be very tough. Give Casey at TacOrd a call. At the end of the day the only way you won't eventually get some wear is to keep it in a glass case and just look at it.
