Hi All,

I have been advised that Krieger has a run of 25 18.5" M-14 barrels in stock, ready to crown and short chamber.

These are Chromoly Steel (good for parkerization or bluing) and 11" twists. These have short chambers which require finish reaming of the chamber and thhroat.

For those not aware, Chinese made M-14S, M305 use metric threads for their accessories such as gas cylinders. M-14/M1A rifles (for which these are made) use imperial threads, so USGI compatible accessories are required. These are medium pattern barrels which means they do not require a special op rod guide.

Cost is $450 + applicable tax and postage.

These are at Krieger and there are ONLY 25 of them. I have not spoken for any except one for another customer.

EDITED***** 14 left at krieger, 10 ordered for Canada so far

email me if you are interested.

this is great news Ian
I'll take 2
just say when and where to send the cash to.

for those hesitating on jumping on such a barrel due to the short chamber requiring reaming to final headspace...... email me, installing and chamber reaming is one of our specialties ;)

I was also talking to Smith enterprises and they say they will have a Canadian distributer and he should be accepting orders by the end of October. The shorty M14 barrels are set up like the long ones for a GI splined flash hider with the castle nut, so I think a direct connect vortex, or a GI flash hider WITH bayonette mount (Hungry) should be in order.

LOL - too bad I didn't see this before I bought my Barnett DMR a couple weeks ago. It might be time for another build ;)

That being said, the Barnett DMR NM barrel is no slouch either.

i didn't want to let the cat outta the bag about SEI , but Ron has been busy hehehe
looks like our "non existant, not worth the hassle canadian market" is grabbing the attention of some of the major players in the U.S. hehehehe
GREAT NEWS for us.

ian.. will get that email to you ASAP

For those of you who always wanted a Krieger (I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy....), here is your chance. Rebarreling by any gunsmith is dead easy. Short chambering and hence the need to final finish ream is not super expensive proposition. There, now you have not much reason to sit on the fence and watch a fantastic opportunity go by... :D

All you need is the correct USGI/ American threaded:

1) Gas cylinder lock (use your existing Norc gas cylinder assy except for the lock)
2) Castle nut
3) May or may not need another flash suppressor (Norc M14 salvage will work, if you don't happen to break it off ... welds, I mean, during the whacking phase). Likely get away with all these parts which are easily obtained from w w w.762firearms.com in Ohio. All depends on what you want to use in the final end.

I just answered a PM about the 'splines' on the end of the barrel. They are more expensive to machine, but easily completed once the initial manufacturing process is programmed in (read: CNC). Now you have to use either the USGI / 3 spline flash suppressor or maybe (help me out here, Skullboy or Laz2000 or M14Dentist) a Smith Enterprise brake that just replaces the flash suppressor.

Hey, 18.5" barrel is legal and non-restricted. Now you can have your  BEAR! gun / M14 truck gun and keep the great accuracy. Hey... it's a Kreiger! :D

Questions? Bring 'em on!! :)
I hope this may reduce any fears you M14 lovers have!

Cheers all,

Barney

Okay , here is what I'm looking for. Some of you asked what options exist for finishing off that '3 splined' barrel muzzle. Glad that Dogzilla knows what he is doing. I sure don't know anything past the old school M14 flash suppressor with bayonet lug.

Cheers,
Barney

Man, if I hadn't bought three guns in the last week I'd be all over one of those Kriegers! Do you need immediate payment or when the barrels land in Canada?

the factory krieger 18.5" barrels come with the typical flash hider mounting detail you see on the end of any standard length m14 barrel. EXCEPT the castlenut thread is USGI spec and not metric-ish chinese. the only parts *required* for this type of barrel is a usgi spec castlenut and a usgi thread spec gas lock. some fitting is to be expected to mate gas cylinder to barrel, regardless of manufacture.

so you pull off and keep the following parts from your chinese gun.
-oprod guide (get a new pin or reuse old one)
-gas assembly (minus chinese gas lock) and stock ferrule
- chinese flash hider or ANY flash hider or brake designed specifically for the standard M14 barrel

you order from brownells a M1A gas lock or gas lock front sight and a M1A castlenut
find a barrel vice and a chamber reamer....... and it's all gravy :D :D
