I've been waiting for some range reports, anyone have some idea how these are performing? groups? reliability? Overall fit and finish? Worth the 900 bucks?

I would say it's a mixed bag.
When I first got mine, the scope mount I used was a bit too flimsy and the scope had a lot of wobble to it.
I put a more solid mount on it, and find that the rail has a bit of flex to it.

The next issue I had was how I was shooting it. I was using the front handle ( I have the limited edition version) to rest the rifle on, and accuracy wasn't great. I switched to using an actual rest, and I was getting shots through the same hole every time.
Maybe some of that initial inaccuracy was break in, but now it seems fine. Still need to run more rounds through it though, and get the scope zeroed in right, but so far it's a fun gun to shoot.

As for fit and finish, it's heavier than it looks, and feels like a quality product. Worth the money? I would say that is up to you to decide. See if you can get your hands on one and give it a try.

BTT, surely by now there must be some guys running these and have some range reports? Really curious on accuracy etc?

I don't have any defined or measured results, but I have two of them and think they're great.
Both are very accurate out of the box with the supplied irons. Hitting gongs 30-40-50 yards from a standing position with ease.
Fit and finish is fantastic, and the take down is super easy with lots of accessibility for thorough cleaning.
Very comfortable to shoot and well balanced.

Standing shooting at gongs, they are great. Prone going for precision, not so much. When I say not great for precision, you'll still do very well, but getting fantastic results might be down to luck and not skill. Did a small bit of ammo testing (CCI Standard, Federal standard, American Eagle, Eley Club, and Center-X) and it didn't seem to care. I'm thinking that the plastic top rail might be the issue. All that aside, I still love shooting it.

Your rifle's top rail is plastic? Both of my guns have full metal rails.

Also wondering where you bought your rifle... It shouldn't have come with a plastic rail. If bought used it could have been swapped with the Airsoft version.

Got it brand new, one of the first limited editions (had it bought before the store knew they where getting it, or that it was even a thing).

It's defintately plastic. It's a high density plastic, but it is plastic.

Very weird. That ain't right man.
Check your manual and look at the exploded parts page. See if the top rail is listed as "V3 Vector Picatinny rail"

so is the rail replaceable? or is it molded in? I find it strange some would ship with plastic some with metal?

Whats the point of this without the special recoil system....

That is the only and whole point of this gun...
