Kriss Vector 9mm Opinions.

Hey all, I searched the forums and other than a guy that apparently got a headache I have not seen much feedback on the vector.

I've shot most of the PCCs available in Canada but I want a Vector. I am looking for owners experience before I drop 2K on a gun which in NL I can only use at the range. I have other "black NRs" I can use in the bush, so I am really looking at the fun factor and something different from anything else I own.

Is it reliable would be my main concern, and if there is an issue, I suspect it may be a PITA?

Reliability - it is perfect if you get the right magazines. Don't use the single stack Glock OEM mag. The follower causes the last round or two to nosedive into the feed ramp. Don't use the Magpul - it won't seat properly. Get the double-stack Glock magazines which have been pinned to 10 rounds. I bought mine from northern republic magazine. With those mags, all is good.

Accuracy - There is a set-screw in the bottom barrel shroud (fake suppressor) close to the receiver. This will back out with use, and the shroud will start a'wigglin. Use some loctite to keep it in place. Once that's done, I think the rifle can approach 2 MOA at 50 yards with ammo it likes

Just to clarify: 2MOA at 50 yards translates to 1-inch groups at that range. Is that what you meant? I have a Beretta Storm 9mm that will do that with many loads, and I wouldn't want to trade "up" to a less-accurate gun in the Vector.

This is all the Kurgan's fault; if he hadn't posted pics of his new-production Vector I could have remained in blissful ignorance and just kept plugging away with my Beretta! :)

I own a gen 2 and I've had problems with the magazine falling out during shooting, even with my hand no where near the magazine release. I'll have to try these magazines out. In reply to OP, the NR is a bit front heavy but overall it's pretty fun to shoot.
 
No issues with mine. Some of the non-Glock high capacity mags don't seat properly but the user manual warns about that.
No problems with the G17-mag clones. G19 mags don't seat properly.
Never any feeding or ejection problems.
I have the latest gen -- just bought recently.

I have seen a few post about Gen 2.5 on other forums, is that such a thing, I can't seem to find anything official about it?
 
I recently got a 9mm Vector - Unfortunately I'm not certain about the differences between Gen 2 and 2.5

With regards to reliability, as Fat but Funky said, it's all about the magazines. With the stock 10-round magazines, occasionally the last round would fail to feed. The bolt would grab the round and shove it into the side of the chamber, pushing the bullet into the case. When using pinned 10/17 magazines, no issues. I'd have to look into seeing if higher power springs for the 10 round magazines are available, that might fix it. In 200 rounds I had 4 failures to feed. They were all either the 9th or 10th round in the magazine.

I purchased 3 of the magpul GL9 magazines, none of them fit into the Vector out of the box. It should be possible to modify them to fit easily enough.
 
The kriss was designed to eliminate muzzle lift during full auto fire.
What we get with the semi version is ok though. Very reliable and fun. I would take it over the cx4. I've had lots of shooting with both
 
Headache guy here...I actually got another one (9mm Gen 2) at a good price and shot it today. Zero issues - the recoil was minimal and in almost 400 rounds I had no failures of any kind. I was pleased with the accuracy - hitting clay targets at 50 yards was effortless. I will be keeping this one for sure.

The only issue is that the barrel shroud seems to be slightly loose. However, the set screw won't budge when I try to tighten or even loosen it. Has anyone had any issues with the shrouds of their vectors?

I'm not parting with my gen 2 in 9mm... 100% reliable and yes it's about a 2-3 MOA rifle at 50 meters... quite impressive really. My factory glock 10/17 and KCI 10/33 mags all work well in it. It eats any brand of bulk ammo. I'll have to check my shroud but I didn't notice it getting loose. If so, a little blue loctite works wonders.

I'm not letting mine go now either. Blue Loctite would be good, but I have to get the screw out first! Although the shroud is loose, the screw won't budge and I'm afraid of stripping it. I think they use red Loctite at the factory, so I'll have to apply some heat and see if that loosens things up so I can re-tighten.
