Kriss Vector Questions

Last night I ordered a non-restricted Kriss Vector Gen II in .45 ACP. I've lusted after this gun since I first saw it on an episode of Future Weapons years back. Yes, okay, it's somewhat neutered without the fun-switch, but conversely I think the 18.6" barrel is actually a cool feature. I realize I bought a ridiculously expensive pistol caliber carbine, but it's mine and I love it. I have a couple questions regarding this firearm:

1. Do we have any laws against installing a vertical foregrip in Canada? I know America has some silly laws regarding the issue so I was curious.

2. Is it legal practice to replace the buffer-tube/AR style stock with the original folding stock? I know our laws limit the folded length of the firearm to XXmm if the firearm can be discharged with the stock folded, but I don't recall off the top of my head what XX is. Obviously I would look this up before thinking about it, but it doesn't hurt to ask experienced individuals either.

3. Does the Vector handle +P ammunition well, or should it be avoided?

4. Can a light still be installed above the barrel with that rectangular barrel shroud? It looks to me like 'no'.

5. Does it have BHO on an empty magazine? I'm thinking 'yes'.

I think that's it for now. If anyone has any additional tips or info to share I always appreciate information. Thanks in advance.

According to wiki there is no longer an opening above the barrel for the light.
I've only handled a couple gen 2 versions and don't recall if that is correct but my buddy just bought one so I'll know the next time he comes out to visit/shoot.

From what I've read the gen 2 is less sensitive to ammo but considering both of my gen 1 vectors will eat anything I put in the magazine I doubt there will be any issues with the gen 2 model.

They're accurate, fun, and cheap to shoot, can't really go wrong as long as you have reasonable expectations for it.
I could ring a 12 inch gong at 200 yards with my first one using the supplied iron sights fairly regularly once I figured out how much to hold over :)

Thanks all for the feedback! I have more questions regarding lubrication procedures, but I imagine they will be covered in the manual. I am very excited to receive my Vector :D

Just a heads-up that IRG has genuine OEM Glock 10/33 rd mags for sale on their Canaduan web-site, in-stock and ready to ship. They aren't cheap at $39 USD plus shipping & tax, but at least the genuine Glock mags will work in the 9mm Gen 2 Vector (unlike those crappy S Korean KCI clone mags that are apparently jammomatic in a Kriss Vector).

I am not affiliated with IRG, rather I just bought my own Gen2 Vector 9mm SBR on the EE and was looking for the extended mags. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence on-line regarding the abysmal performance of those KCI mags in the Gen 2 Vectors. On the other hand, genuine OEM Glock mags reportedly work 100%. YMMV, but I have stocked up on the IRG mags while they are still in stock...

I have 2 KCI 10/27 mags that I got from Reliable in Van for $32 and have put a few hundred rounds through them and never had one misfeed or issue!!

You apparently got lucky. The KCI 33 rd mags are renowned for feeding problems - just do a Google search and you will soon see the many tales of frustration and woe associated with those mags. Granted most problems appear to occur when the mags are loaded to their intended 33 rds capacity, but the two that I owned wouldn't feed even 10 rds reliably throug a Lone Wolf Glock-mag 9mm AR that I had. That was my one and only encounter with the KCI 10/33 rd mags and that was plenty for me to determine that they are junk compared to the OEM Glock product. As I said in my original post, YMMV. That said, I would never recommend the KCI product when the real deal is available for just a few $$ more.....

A quick question since Vector stocks were mentioned already - is the M4-style butt stock on the Gen2 mounted on a standard-type buffer tube, or do you have to run the adapter and a new buffer tube if you want to swap to something like a Magpul mil spec stock?

A number you will see time and again, 660mm (25.98"), generally simplified to 26". Without measuring at all though, it's known that the Vector came in a factory NR configuration with the folder (meaning it must have met the 660mm rule), so you're guaranteed good to go.

It's a standard buffer tube. Not proprietary to The Kriss Vector buttstock.

Good to know, thanks. The info is probably on the Kriss site, but it's down for maintenance until Jan.2.

I have a gen 1 folder and I bought the M4 adapter from KRISS to add an AR15 buffer tube style stock....Once you buy their M4 adapter, basically any AR buffer tube will thread into it....Its your choice

Interestingly, and I'm embarrassed to admit I missed this, but the Non-restricted Gen II doesn't even appear to have a button for the folding stock. I suppose given that fact, I'll stick with the M4 style stock.

That's because the button is on the folding stock not the gun itself. The m4 stock is not supposed to be folded, so no button comes on it.

If you buy a folding stock the button will come on the stock

When using M4 stock I just use the pin to remove it for storage, when I have the folding stock I use he button on the stock and fold it for storage. They both fit, one folds and has a button the other doesn't

No to the light like mentioned already and the folding stock should be fine too. I have a gen 1 with folding stock and it's non restricted.

As for the KCI 10/27 mags I wouldn't recommend buying any extras. Just get the OEM Glock mags. I have 4 KCI mags I am looking to get rid of since I had major issues with all of them on the second to last round almost always jamming. I bought 2 Glock 21 mags and my Vector has been firing mint ever since. I did buy my Vector used and knew about the possible issue before buying it since I did a good month of reading up on pros and cons of the gun before purchase. Then again when you spend that kind of money it usually isn't a spur of the moment purchase without some research first.
