Has anyone here disassembled the bolt on their KSG? As silly as this might sound, could this void warranty? Has anyone here required warranty service yet?
From what I understand Vault Distribution has lots of parts and is taking care of most warranty concerns.
Does Vault have a gunsmith on staff? Maybe a Keltec certified armourer?
Very interested in any and all experiences involving your warranty experiences.
Mine is locking up with spent shell in the chamber. Chamber surface is baby smooth. Yes, it seems worse with low brass but what the hell? Locks up tight every so often and I have to strike buttstock against my hip to eject. Not exactly confidence inspiring.
Thanks gents,

Are you sure that the problem is not ammo related? I have had sticky extraction because of the cheap steel rims/bases on the case...

Have you tried buckshot & slugs, they have the high brass rim/base & have run 100% reliably in my KSG...

Cheers
Jay

I have put 60 slugs through my ksg, 20 Sellier and Bellot, 40 Winchester AA hull reloads. All low brass and no lockup.

Have you tried different ammo?

I've had mine to the range twice this week and put around 100 rounds throughs it. Runs great, only issue is two fail to extract which results in a double feed but I'm thinking that was operator error and the crappy low brass bird shot. Double OO buck and slugs run perfectly. No lock up or other issues. The only thing I had to adjust was the screw on the selector switch was lose and would slip from left side to centre causing it not to feed from either tube. Once tightened it runs perfectly.

I've stripped my shotgun down before going to he range and disassembled the bolt. Cleaned her up and oiled , no problems. Taking your ksg down and cleaning it will not void your warranty unless your trying to make mechanical alterations outside general maintenance.

I have a friggin nicely bruised shoulder.. But the 14 round capacity sure makes it a devastating close quarters weapon.

Time for full disclosure, yes this problem has only occurred with low brass shells. Federal target load #8
Federal target load #7 1/2
Winchester universal #4
S&B 2 5/8" slugs, Federal 00 buck 2 3/4", Winchester slugs 2 3/4" all cycle just fine.
Maybe my expectations are too high. I guess I just hoped that my KSG would function as well as my HP-9 or Mossberg 590A1 with cheap ammo.
Guess I could accept the low brass as being a problem if the chamber was rough or extractor was slipping over the rim and failing to extract.
How do low brass shells stick in a smooth chamber only once in awhile?
Not trying to be a smart ass, just don,t understand why I can,t get her to function as well as my other shotty,s
Would like to add that i love this shotgun!! Design, dimensions, capacity, ergonomics,,,,,,just....WOW......
Maybe i am stuck buying high brass for the occasional skeet shoot.

The low 'brass' is likely NOT brass, but STEEL or some other metal. My KSG runs like a dream, except for the cheapest shells with the low 'brass'...

Jay is right on. The cheap junk ammo is often not even brass. It's plated steel. The aluminum base shells seem to the worst for me. Don't feel bad, they can lock up any gun with baby smooth chambers. Seems to happen randomly too.

When I am buying #7.5 or #8 clay loads I look for actual brass. Doesn't seem to matter if it's high or low, as long as it IS brass. They won't ever be the very cheapest ones on the shelf but you don't have to buy the most expensive ammo either.
