Hey all

I bought my KSG used from a member over a month ago. I havent used it at all its just sat in the safe. I remembered I had a few 12GA dummy rounds today and figured Id play around with it. I inserted 2 dummy rounds into the left tube and pushed the switch over and pumped. Nothing happens.... The shells are not ejected or anything.. What could this be? Anyone?

Okay, I'll take a 'stab' at this... When you pump the forestock rearward, the elevator should hit the shell stop on it's way down, which releases a cartridge from the mag tube and pops it out onto the elevator. Carefully watch the inside of the action & repeat the drill you describe.

Let us know...

Cheers
Jay

wow ok I figured it out. I had my AFG on too far back lol. It wasnt allowing it to cycle properly. Thanks for the reply guys.

Trying it now I have had the shell get stuck in the ejection port a few times when the second round is loading in which is weird. Could just be the dummy shells?

I've had several shotguns that don't cycle dummy rounds, I just use them singly to ensure lockup/trigger functionality after cleaning. Real shells cycle fine.

I did that the first time too! Nice not to be alone.

I've got the same snap caps in the photo and did not have problems with ejection, but I manhandled the thing racking it back. Those things (caps) are rather heavy.

I agree. I've had a few pump shotguns that do not function quite right with dummy rounds but work perfect with live ammo. I kind of think it has to do with the weight of teh dummy shells. A real shell is heavy on the way in and very light on the way out. A dummy round can never be both

Good to hear you figured out the AFG clearance issue.

I haven't tried any dummy rounds in my KSG, however, my old 870 won't even feed those dummy rounds well. Live ammo feeds well in both.

I've heard a few new KSG owners have had feed/eject issues when shooting their guns, but I've not had one single issue. If you don't stroke the pump fully in each direction that can cause a feed/eject issue. Just stroke it back and forth HARD! ;-)

Good to see your issue got resolved so quickly! I too am a recently joined member to the KSG family but when I got her out to the range I barely got a shell off it was so popular. No problems, but I use a stubby instead of an AFG.

I tried an AFG.........................didn't like it, then tried a stubby vertical grip.....................didn't like it!

So this is how I have mine set up now:

It's tough to see, but I added a strip of Ergo rail cover as well. It's easier on the hand and I find the Ergo soft plastic offers more 'grip'.
