Having never been a big shotgun guy in the first place and having never been into BUIS, I am really lost on what kind of sights I should get for the KSG. A few thoughts:

-I’m not a fan of putting optics on shotguns.
-They do not need to fold since they will be in service 100% of the time and the only sights used.
-Lower profile is better so they don’t snag as easily.
-I would really like something with tritium so they can be used at night

Also, does anyone know what model is always pictured on the KSG? It might work alright, but I would like something with a little lower profile as long as you could still get a comfortable sight picture.

So what are your ideas?

1) yes, but if they fold the package will be slightly less tall and easier to transport.
2) as long as you can get a cheekweld. I have the impression (from the many pictures) that AR-height is required for this.
3) lots of tritium inserts available for AR-style sights
4) MagPul MBUS - almost the least-expensive AR-style sights out there.

If I were going with optics a Mepro would not be a bad option. I prefer not to need to turn something on before shooting.

The same logic applies to why I would prefer that iron sights do not fold - so you don't need to take the time to fold them up before shooting. I am not against folding sights but if they fold I would prefer it if they can be somewhat locked in the upright position. That being said, wouldn't a non-folding version be cheaper and lighter?

Front and rear MBUS set (brownells): $90USD, 2.5oz
F&R DD Fixed set: $120USD, 2.8oz (DD makes ultra-light things, this is likely the lightest possible metal set)
Troy Front/Rear Fixed pair: $120USD, 3.3oz

It's hard to beat injection-molded polymers.

On that note, if you are concerned about immediate use from storage in your safe, just store with the sights up. At the range or hunting it is a non-issue, unless you are one of those guys who raises the gun when the timer goes "beep", only to find the red-dot turned off... which is one of the reasons I now use Aimpoint Micro sights.

Fixed?

Troy battle sights. No question. With the tritium they're pure awesome. HK sight in the front would be nice.

I have a couple EOtechs I intend to mount one of them on this. I would like to have a set of flip up sights also that I can use over the EOTech if the batterys die. I was looking at the troy sights today and If they flipped I would buy them but I don't want a fixed rear.

Any new ideas now that the KSGs have arrived?

I can now confirm that they do need to have a bit of height in order to get a comfortable sight picture.

I am leaning towards the Troy sights (especially the fixed) because they seem to be the most streamlined and are available with tritium. The problem is that nobody in Canada can keep them in stock. Does anyone know if Troy will ship to Canada if the total is less than $100?
