I took my girlfriend up to shoot trap for the first time at Victoria Fish & Game the other week on their wednesday evening practice session. As a newbie shotgun shooter myself, I was not sure what to expect from the regulars and how welcoming they would be to a couple of rookies.

Well I must say I was impressed. The guys up there are a bunch of first class gentlemen.

We were made to feel welcome straight away, the guys were friendly and took the time to show us the ropes and fit us in for a round of trap. They let my girlfriend practice a bit on her own and spent the time to give her tips and make her comfortable with the gun and the proceedures. The range officers Dan and Chris were especially helpful.

I just wanted to post up for anyone else that might be thinking of trying out the shotgun sports at Victoria Fish and Game. You'll be in good hands and will have a great time, so get out there and give it a go.

I wish I lived closer so I could go on a regular basis. This was one of those times when I was proud to be part of the shooting fraternity and the good people that share our hobby.

A tip of the hat to the guys at Victoria Fish and Game. It's a good reminder to all of us.

There are two critically important reasons to always be warm, welcoming and accomodating whenever new shooters show up at the club.

The first reason is that new blood is how our sport will survive.

The second reason is that we need new shooters to sell our old guns to.;)

Being on the mainland myself I haven't seen the Victoria club but have been to the Nanaimo club for IPSC. Nanaimo was nice, how about some pictures of Victoria's? Didn't you take any of the girl friend shooting?

It's nice to know that people appreciate our club in Nanaimo.Victoria Fish and Game has gone through some rough times in the last year but things are coming around. It's a good club with some really good people and they need all the support that they can get.
