A friend of mine just picked up a Lee Enfield transit case for the No. 4 rifle. It has a serial number painted on it, and a cloth-type tag also with the serial number. It's in reasonably good shape, with the stenciled writing painted over and a piece broken out of one end.

He got it free from a guy that was throwing it out.

I've seen these before, but have no idea what their value is. Any ideas as to the value?

I've seen value ranging from $75-250! It depends if it is a No.4 T case, or a No.7 case. The No.7 case has a slot for the .22 cleaning rod cut into the retainers.

If it is the lower chest for the 22s, then in the range of $75-125 generally. If it is for a sniper, and is in reasonable shape, then in the range of $400 to 800, especially if it's a Canadian one. As Kman mentions, the chest for the no7 will have cuts for the cleaning rod with one attachment, and as well a small block with 3 holes on the back wall of the chest to hold the remiander of the cleaning rod attachments. If it is for the sniper, then it may be marked Chest no15 or something similar.

A photo would go a long way.
