Oops just about forgot. Thanks Badgerdog for taking the time to do the photo's

You're welcome.... :)

My pleasure..... I actually enjoy the photographic archiving process of the collecting, as much as the journey of acquiring and buying these old girls. I guess I feel that even if the piece disappears at sometime in the future, some part of it will survive through a detailed and accurate set of photographs, for other collectors to be able to view. As time permits, I'm hoping to expand this project into a much larger site and broader series of photos, involving other militaria that I've collected over the years. For example, I used to collect old military service medal groups during the 60's and 70's. I'll being shooting a few of those pics today, so I'll post them if anyone is interested.

Badger, that is a beautiful rifle.

Thanks partner ....... :)

I'll pass that feedback to ~Angel~. She's very happy with it's condition and is looking forward to shooting it. It was bought from a board member here, who had in-turn bought it from another member. The latter individual had actually bought it right out of surplus, still in the cosmoline. He owned it for several years and as you can tell from the pics, he obviously had great pride and took excellent care of it.

Regards,
Badger

Nice photo essay of the details of my old rifle. It did not look like that when I first acquired it in 92. Always all original of course but packed in grease for deep storage and scope off mount and wrapped up tight. I never thought of taking pictures of it then as I wanted to put her back into looking and shooting well. Too bad I could not have provided before and after pictures.

Cloning one of these would be a great way to save a bubba'd enfield! And for milsurp purists a chance to accurize an Enfield without chopping an unmolested original. I sense a new project a brewin...What is the base rifle to start with?

Start with a No.4 Mk1 T, or more realistically a No.4 Mk1 or 2.
A rifle that has previously been converted to .308 would be an ideal candidate.

Wolverine was actually selling a mock-up L42 a few years back. It was an actual 4T rifle with an origional scope mount. The barrel had been changed to a NOS surplussed L42 (snake skin) barrel, and the wood changed to #8 wood. Also had the proper extractor, and an Enfield 7.62 magazine. Still even had it's cheek pad. The whole package was only $600.
But don't bother John asking about it. A friend bought it about 4 years back, along with a spare #32 scope I had kicking around. So for about $1K, he had about as authentic a L42 mockup as you were going to find.
