L98A1 cadet rifle

I am an ex cadet from 40 years ago, I have an Enfield .303 No 4 Mk 2 and a 1960 L1A1 SLR, and the L98A1 would neatly complete my small collection of British battle rifles from WWII to present :)

Interesting laws. You can have an SLR but need a straight pull bullpup. The last time I saw an L85 was 1990 more or less. The only thing I see today are the metal Airsoft types. Anyone else chime in?

Ah, I forgot to mention that the SLR is also modified - replacement barrel with no gas bleed, gas block welded up, gas recoil mechanism removed, so that is single shot straight pull also - semi autos have been banned here for a number of years.

It looks authentic.......and it shoots nicely :)

"...Some apparently escaped..." If any did, it wasn't many. Never seen nor heard of anybody having one. Suspect that anybody who may have one very likely wouldn't want to part with it. It'd be a big time collector piece here.

It was allegedly only a small number that escaped to Canada.

I know someone in the UK that has one, but unsurprisingly he doesn't want to part with it ;)

There are a number of importers possible. Century in Montreal (now closed), Lever Arms in Vancouver, and possibly Klondike Arms in Edmonton (now close, occupied by P&D Enterprises). If you are serious, you might knock in these places.

Kearns and McMurchy in Edmonton used to get in all kinds of ex Brit military rifles. I would not be surprised if they got some L95 cadets in. I miss that shop.

Some of them were exported to Canada, but the importer put the gas system back into them. Which pissed off the manufacture and he was cut off. I would say around 25 rifles. The straight pulls are non-restricted. The semi-auto are prohibited.

Why would that be? Even if they'd be prohib by name (12.5), even if they aren't full or converted autos.
