I'm looking for a lab - a serious hunting lab from working/field trial/ hunt test lines - and I'm wondering if anyone here has some experiences, suggestions or advice. The two local breeders I'm currently considering are Trailrunners and Prairiestorm, both out of Saskatchewan, so if anyone has got a dog from them I'd love to hear how it turned out. If anyone has any other suggestions as to breeders I should consider, I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks guys.

I'm from Saskatoon and know both breeders. I sent my duck toller up to Trailrunners for retriever training and Fran did an excellent job, if you're looking into started dogs she would have an edge. I've trained at the retriever club with a few of the Prairiestorm dogs and they are great as well, I wouldn't hesitate to get a pup from either one.

Talk to Daniel at Prairiestorm. Tell her what kind of dog you are after and let her know your expectations.

She was great with us. Very upfront, had multiple visits with her dogs, she's a great trainer ect.

Our dog Diesel from her is a retrieving MANIAC but is very gentle in the home. I wish I had more time to train with him. He's the little guy and the one in the front of the boat. Came out of Drake and Tee

With the ease and relatively cheap cost of shipping puppies these days there is no reason to limit your search to "local" breeders. Expanding your search throughout Canada and the USA will greatly increase your chance of getting exactly what it is your looking for.

Having said all that Danielle at Prairiestorm is a very good person to work with and has some quality working dogs in her breeding program. Plus she is very good in helping a person refine what it is they are looking for in a dog and she will not sell you a pup if it won't fit the bill.
