Lack of level III matches in canada

matches in general

There's alot of work to do matches beyond Stages
Designing stages for approval (just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean it works on the range)
Booking ranges
Building stages
Organizing food & water
Managing workers,RO's Cro's Competitors
Tearing down stages
Cleaning ranges

When all the flack clears and the match is over.
Did it run close to or on time per squad?( I hate to run a match that runs behind time really botheres me)
Did you make any money for the Club (to show other members a reason to not allow them use of there club for a good reason)
Did competitors have a good time?(if not why)
Did the shooters & workers who signed to shoot & work show up??

I don't no why any MD would take on the headaches of a L3. The extra work on just getting the approvals makes deceant L2 look good. What are the real benefits to shooting a L3?
 
I'm good with a 200 rnd level 1 :D, if easier for the clubs to set up.

And if any club within 1 hr drive from the DVP & 401, needs some help to set up, I'm open to that. Just PM me.

Your posts laments that your friends in other regions get to go to more level 3 matches, however no where in this thread did you mention that you are hosting a level 3 match.

These matches are put on by one or two key individuals, that badger, guilt and harange the rest of us into helping out. It is a ton of work, absolutely no compensation, and if it goes over budget then they are held personally responsible.

I am not one of these key individuals, I am one of the rest of us that they badger into helping out with my time and money. I certainly appreciate that a few do, what the rest of us are unwilling to do, so that we can all have a good time.

Good question. We have about 10 L2's in Manitoba all within 3 hrs drive of probably 70% of the population. Many of our L2's could easily be L3's but for the extra work I don't think we'd attract too many people from further afield.

Its hard to compare our situation with Europe or even America, the population density changes everything.
 
I've put on a few level III matches in the past in BC. One of the things that people don't realize is that, for a number of years in BC, all level 2 qualifier matches had to have courses of fire that met level III specifications and that NROI officials had to be used.

That meant the only things needed to do for level III were to
a) submit match copies to the IPSC Approval committee instead of the BC Match approval committee
b) get approval from the Regional Director
c) make sure a chronograph, box and trigger pull gauge were available.
d) submit results to IPSC along with the sanction fee (equal to one match fee)

Believe it or not, some individuals at my club balked at me converting level II matches to level III because they didn't want us to pay the $45 match/sanction fee to IPSC because it was a "money grab" and we were already paying sanction fees to the Provincial organization.

Actually getting the stages approved, if that is what you are getting at, is easy compared to all the other work that has to be done. Hats off to all of those that have put on Lvl III's and to those that will in the future. I appreciate all of the work done, especially after doing one last year.
