I have a lakefield 64 b model and she is giving some problems! At least every clip there is at least one or two casing that don't get ejected, they just get caught in the action. Could this be the extractor? Or am I missing something here. Any help would be a great help.

I have the same rifle and the only time it gives me problems of that nature is when I'm lazy and do not clean it. That being said I picked up an after market mag. that does not like to feed properly.

I adore my 64's!

As stated, cleaning a 64 can get rid of all kinds of troubles. Once clean, run it dry. Lube your action only for storage/rust prevention. They gunk up in use if oiled.

Your's should have a flat-plate style ejector. It fits into a notch on the left side of the barrel. Check it's still "flat" when you disassemble the rifle. BE CAREFUL. Do not twist the barrel out of the action, a broken/deformed ejector will be the reward.

Enjoy your 64...in production for 50+ years, and still getting made by Savage. That means something

I have the same .22, and the same problem. She goes thru solid ammo good but if I use hollow point at least 2 rds fail to feed or eject. I think I'll change the ejector to see if that cures the problem. Cheers.

64's are fussy eaters. As stated above...

Mine loves federal champion (525), anything CCI. It'll cycle Remington sub-sonics well too. Mine won't work with "Truncated" , or "Dyna-points"...other CGN'ers have had luck with Winchester 555, 333...Mine hates them.

Swapping an ejector probably won't make a huge difference in performance, unless your's is actually broken/deformed.

I never thought to run it dry. I'll have to try that with mine. Mine also is a fussy eater. Loves winchester. Loathes remington. Will do CCI but not the blazers.
