Any one have experience with the Lakefield 64B?

From what I read, It's just a 64G that was made by Lakefield before they got bought out by Savage Arms. So all the parts are interchangeable. I've got a lead on an old one for $125 and should the stock, barrel and action all be in good shape: Would it make a good starter rifle for a beginner shooter? Specifically in terms of maintenance and reliability.

I had one. About as accurate as a good 10/22. 1.5 inch groups at 25 meters with the iron sights, IIRC. Cycles very reliably with HV ammo when action is clean and lubed lightly. Easy to disassemble, clean and lube. Only complaint from me is the crude looking and feeling magazine.
