Gents, I'm a bit confused about these brand names and model numbers running through one-another all the time. Could somebody explain the relationship or direct me to a site or book/publication that clarifies??? Thanks and Merry Chistmas to you all!!

Lakefield is no longer in the story and sold their factory to Savage, Savage make their rimfire rifle in Lakefield and the early savage rimfire model is the same as lakefield. That say Savage rimfire rifle is Made in Canada.

Savage has really risen from the ashes, Stevens is their no frills product line, Savage brand is the good stuff and coming soon Fox their Cadillac line, anxiously awaiting details myself coz I want one now.

Cooey was in Cobourg Ontario and bought out by Winchester in 1961.
In 1979 Winchester closed the plant.
Lakefield bought the machinery along with the rights to the Model 64. I gather they were in Lakefield Ontario.

In 95/96 Savage bought Lakefield.

Savage Arms (Canada) produces .22-calibre long rifles and sporting fire rifles, including those used for target shooting and biathlon events. Formerly the Canadian-owned Lakefield Arms, the company is now a subsidiary of the Massachusetts-based Savage Sports Corporation. According to company officials, Savage Arms exports 97 per cent of its rifles, mostly to the US.

In 1920 Savage bought out Stevens. They quite often bring their cheaper models out under the Stevens name.
