Lakefield MkIII (not MkII) ejector, is it the same as Cooey/Lakefield/Savage 64?

I have a semi auto Lakefield MkIII that I got off a friend ages ago. He told me that it needed a spring so I put it away and never really looked at it.

Now I'd like to get it working again. I checked out as many threads as I could find for info and stripped her down. I've figured out what spring is missing, it's the one that sits under the ejector. I guess I need a new ejector while I'm at it since at some point and time it was lost as well and someone fashioned a replacement out of thin plastic. Kudos to them for getting it working but I'd feel better with a real one.

Not a lot out there on the MkIII. Uses the same mag as the MkII but it looks like it has more in common with the 64. Dissasembly appears to be almost identical to that of the 64. The barrel and bolt look identical from what I can see in pics and vids so I'm wondering if I can use a spring and ejector from a 64 since MkIII parts seem to be rather scarce.

It basically looks like a 64 with no safety lever, round steel receiver and MkII mags. Or it looks like a semi version of a MkII, depending on how you look at it I guess.

I think you mean extractor...no spring associated with the MkIII ejector.

I've had a couple MkIII's pass through, but honestly don't recall removing an extractor. Your best bet would be to post a picture of yours so others could compare. The 64's spring may work (and would still be available from Savage), or any stiff spring you could cram under the extractor.

I'm positive it's the ejector. The piece that just sits in the barrel until you remove it. Maybe it does differ from the 64 but on one of the dissasembly videos I've watched there is definitely a spring under the ejector. In other vids there was no mention of one. When I look at the ejector slot in the barrel there is a round hole drilled where the hook of the ejector sits.

I'll try and take a couple of pics so people can see what I mean. Maybe I should put it all together and shoot off a couple of rounds and see if I have any extraction issues.

Mine is just a Lakefield but I do believe they made them under Mossberg as well.

Thanks to fellow member moptop!

In this pic, no spring is indicated.

This one is slightly different than the couple that passed through here. Mine were "solid backed" receivers (like a 64), but this one has a threaded plug at the back of the receiver (Mossberg style). I have also encountered 2 slightly different trigger groups.
