I have a lakefield mod.64 .22 and it has always had an issue with expelling the casing. It always jams up. It is in really good shape and is clean as a whistle. I was hoping someone could give me an idea as to what may be causing this issue. I usually shoot blazers but have tried others with no luck.
It is the same as a Savage 64.

Thanks

just the fact of not pulling the casing from the chamber is caused by the extractor which is available but if it is not kicking the casing clear of the action, then it is the ejector which is also available. Sometimes the return spring is stiff from years of use and the more powerful .22 ammo cycles the bolt too fast. Regular ammo (bulk) works all the time in my 64s.

I seem to be having the same problem with my 64b, it seems she can't clear the spent casing fast enough. It happens once in 40-50 rounds, by the way I shoot Winchester, the 500 rd bulk box.

Definitely sounds like an ejector problem, perhaps replacing it will solve the problem, After the hundreds or perhaps thousands of shells thru the gun, the wear is normal.

I adore my 64's!

I have had "ejector" issues...more so with the wire style than the flat plate. I've had issues with winchester ammo too, loading not, extract.ejecting though.

Double check that barrel truly is indexed (it shoudl be "forced true" when you tighten the barrel retaing clip) One of my '64's, would re-assemble slightly twisted. Wire style ejector. It would demonstrate, occaisionally, as bad ejecting.

The old girls tend to like the solid round nosed ammo for loading rather than the rough hollow pointed ammo. So I used the solids in mine. Why force the issue? Poor extractions were cured by a new extractor and a slight bend in the wire ejector fixed the flinging of the spent casings.
