Lakefield model 64B barrel removal help pls?

I'm trying to take the barrel off and having no luck. I removed the screw and fitting but she is on there good......any tips or ideas??? Does it just pull off or screw off or??? thanks!
 
It just slides out of the receiver but if it's never been off before it could put up a fight.
Maybe soak it down good with wd-40 and let it sit over night.
 
It does just pull off. Give it a bit of a soak with penetrating oil and then try it. You may need to use some gentle force to encourage it to move. A nylon faced hammer is good encouragement.
 
if the nut and "clip" are removed, then i would place the barrel in a PADDED(wood blocks o.k.) vise and try to pull off the receiver.
if no joy on that then use a BRASS PUNCH and tap around the receiver while using copious amouts of penetrating oil in chamber.

thanks guys!!! I just wasn't sure if it screwed out or whatnot. I'll give it a go!! Mine is jamming and stuff so I need to clean it big time. I read a bunch or posts and got some good tips....THANKS!!

Don't twist it..the ejector is held in the barrel and fits in a groove in the bolt..twisting the barrel will bend and or break the ejector.
ETA..it's a mossberg and a bit different but the barrel to receiver assembly is the same.

oops,sorry about that.you're absolutely right striker,i forgot about that pesky ejector.
one could also let the bolt slam forward a few times to loosen the barrel.
it's been a while since i played with one of these...:redface:
 
Use very small rotating movement of the barrel if you try that method. The barrel slides out and with the barrel held stationary, the action can be gently nudged off with a brass or nylon hammer. Even a hardwood block will protect the metal from being damaged.

be sure to remove the magwell and trigger before they get damaged.

Ask me how I know..my Cooey model 64B was the first gun I owned..and you know what 14 year old kids are like..:redface:

I've discovered over the years that my 64B doesn't like a lot of oil on the bolt..the crud from .22 rounds really gums it up...
you will probably find a lot of carbon build up under the lug on the top of the barrel..
 
Just a touch of heat from a propane torch on the receiver ring might loosen things up as well. Some D.P.O. may have used locktite red to put the barrel on the last time it was cleaned.
 
Hey.....I got the barrel off by using a vice and a hammer hitting a piece of wood on the lip of the reciever. It was on there tight!! I got it all apart and wow was it ever gummed up and dirty.....all clean now...easy to put back together and I'm gonna try it out asap. Thanks for all your help and hope it works better!
