Hey guys, I picked up one of these for my dad in 6.5x55. They seem like a well built, solid quality rifle. I want to put iron sights on it. The barrel was drilled & tapped for irons from the factory I believe. Do any of you know what irons will fit this thing?

Thanks,

Rob

The options are almost endless, but it depends on what you're after. If you're like me, a barrel band front sight base like those from NECG or Ruger looks the best, and are precise aiming instruments when fitted with a rectangular post blade and a ghost ring receiver sight that can be fitted to the rail. I like NECG's products, but with our depressed dollar, they are expensive, but then so is everything out of the States.

If your preference is an open rear sight and bead front sight on a ramp, NECG can help you there too, offering plain ramps with a variety of inserts, and rear sights that include single or multi leaf express sights, or the more common leaf sight that is retained with two screws. If these prove to be more costly than you prefer, a wide range of sight options are available from Skinner, Williams, and Lyman. I've never had a problem purchasing directly from any of these companies.

Thanks Kamlooky, I'll pm baribal. Took this thing out to try it out. It's the nicest shooting gun I've ever fired. I'm keeping it, now I need another one for my dad.

Well, I have to agree... nice rifles. Here's my 30-06:

To OP re: irons: My rifle has a Williams rear sight. The front sight has no markings. The only annoyance is that the front sight hood travels forward when firing the rifle...

Nice rifle! Those are the types of irons I'm looking for TAP375. What bases do you use? The bases that were on this one look like some kind of leupold quick release or something. Don't know if I'll keep them as they seem kind of high.

The bases on mine are Weaver #11 and #35 (.147 thick, 1.290 diameter, hole spacing .504 and .860, respectively.) The original 4x Scopechief had a long tube and it was mounted with low Weaver rings; I changed over to a variable a few years ago, and had to use medium height offset rings because the scope tube is shorter. These work well, making it easier to load rounds into the internal mag.

Thought I'd resurrect tis thread from 2015... Just got a Lakelander TAP-375 in 30-06. I saw it by chance in a local gun store, they hardly knew anything about it. Was the best action I ever felt, super smooth bolt - check out that 9 lug design! I A/B'd it with a Tikki hunter, and the Lakelander oozed smoothness in comparison. Paid $400 cash :) Can't wait to fire it.

Never heard of these but for $400 that looks like a sweet rig!
Just ordered a 2-7x35 to go on top, though I'm going to try sights only in the bush for bear...

Sweet deal. I have a few of these, 30-06, 7mag and 308. Great triggers and very well made.
Yes, feels great. It compared well against the Tikka T3 Hunter beside it. I saw these in tradex for $500 in poor condition...

Good score! Nice classy rifle.
Super pumped, I sold my Ruger American 30-06 to pay for it... I think I made out OK :)

$400 You Monster
How am I supposed to sleep tonight?
I know right? I can't believe I haven't broken her in at the range yet... Will try to this weekend!

Does anybody have any info on these rifles? Most I could find was it originated with the maker of Lynx rifles: http://lynxrifles.fi/about/

I'd like to get a Lynx in the future, looks pretty elegant, though maybe too pretty for a BC back country hunting gun...
