I have a question, I have noticed that any lamanated stock on a mosen nagant is allways shinny/glossey, is this the norm, or are there non lamanted shinny stocks, or is it just the lamanted stocks, also does it mean built up wood or built up paint in layers?

Shellac was used by the Soviets/Russians to finish gun stocks. It just so happens that they also used a lot of laminated stocks. I don't think using shellac gave the stocks more strength, it was likely just available and inexpensive. They also used shellac on captured weapons such as RC K98's.

When you have endless forests, shellac is in good supply. It dries within minutes meaning you can produce more weapons and issue them more quickly. Shellac was used on both laminated and non-laminated stocks.
Note that the laminated stocks on Mosin Nagants are almost entirely post-war. Very few laminated stocks made it into service during the war and are quite the rarity. Since more time was taken to finish post-war rifles and stocks, generally laminated stocks are more glossy and have less dents than wartime examples that have had wear to the wood finish.

The Russians used shellac on all of their WW2 rifles, it just looks shinier and in better condition on the "lammies" because, as skirsons commented, for the most part, laminated stocks are of "post war" manufacture. I understand the Russians adopted the use of laminated stocks after examining captured German K-98s that had them.
