Lamentations on the Zastava LKM70 - see pics

Those are serious QC failures. I'd go back through the retailer for a replacement.

I agree. I picked up a pair of full wood examples a while back. The first was in 9.3x62,;) AKA .366 Wagner :) and after the above expected target results with my first handloads, I opted for another, in 7x57. While they don't have the fine degree of fit and finish of other brands available, not bad bang for the buck. Anyway, checked mine over after reading and seeing the initial post of this thread and overall, mine appear to be okay.

These rifles are usually quite well built. Although not the most refined they are reliable and can be very accurate. It sounds like you ended up with one that has some major QC issues. I would contact their warranty support with your concerns.

It will take more than 5 shots, some barrel break in and a variety of ammo to find what works in any rifle. But your rifle does seem to have other issues that need addressing.

Well, I’d try the exchange route first. If the dealer will allow, check a couple more guns. They usually let you open 2-3 boxes. If this isn’t feasible, I’d be looking to have a gunsmith sort these issues out. These are $600-$700 guns. And while you could have went with say a Savage Axis for the same money, if you’re like me and enjoy classic wood/blued guns on classic actions (aka Mauser 98), what’s another $200-$300 for action truing and proper bedding. These make great project guns. Great, now I’m thinking about another project lol.

When you checked the lug contact how did you make sure the bolt was pushed back while closing it? If you did it on an empty chamber there wouldnt be anything holding the bolt back on the lugs. Try doing it after feeding a fired case from the mag.

If this is a new retail purchase- take it back.

If not, have the action blue printed and barrel screwed back on with proper head spacing. Then do some stock work removing contact points, free float barrel, and then bed the action.

Then go shoot again.

I had a 9.3x62 that had an incorrectly cut chamber. Would feed and chamber but light strikes everytime.

Have to wonder, how are these guns proofed if they will not fire off the line...

Well there seems to be guys grumbling all the time about their rifle not being unfired, so maybe they took their word and delivered?

I’ll take the fired guns thanks lol

Never understood guys who want a round count on hunting rifles. I know very few people irl who shoot a hunting rifle enough to burn out a barrel in a lifetime. Also the f class version of a burnt barrel would make a fine hunting rifle for most, me included

The firing pin spring puts pressure on the cocking piece, which in turn pulls the bolt lugs back against the receiver lugs, no need for a cartridge case.
