I recently acquired a Lames 12 gauge over/under shotgun - I think it's a Model 801. It's an Italian Make (Chiavari, Italy) and has some nice engraving throughout. The wood is in great shape as well. The problem is, it needs some parts and I'm having trouble finding them. I know it will need a firing pin, main bolt to hold the butt stock to the receiver, and a few other minor pieces of hardware - a gunsmith has already confirmed that he's able to make these. The one part I'm having trouble finding is one of the main arms that extends when the action is broken open (I'm not exactly sure what the proper term for it would be). The gunsmith I've talked to is also having trouble finding parts as are the other people I've talked to locally.

My question is, does anyone know where I can find parts for these shotguns or if there are any other makes and models out there that has interchangeable parts with my Lames? The only thing I can find online is that the Savage 440 or 444 may cross over.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
Adam

Hi there. Can't help on where you might find parts. Probably won't find any is my guess. I've searched for years just too find someone else who has one or even heard of one. What I have found is the company ( Lames ) that made these guns has been an auto parts manufacturer since the 70s sort of so the shotguns were before that. If you have a smith willing and able to make the parts that would be your best bet. Just want add you are the first owner of a Lames shotgun, other than me that I have encountered. Also they were not a cheap gun I used to have the boxes for mine, a 2 barrel set and the Price tag from a sporting goods store in Lethbridge that is long gone was $1195.00

There were ( and still are) many many tiny 2-12 employee shops producing guns in Italy. Some only made a handful per year, some made perhaps a couple of dozen or a hundred. Quality varied from basic working guns to custom made heirlooms and most were never exported although an occasional one came over with Italian immigrants. These were not cookie cutter guns produced in thousands like Remington or Beretta, there were and are no spare parts available for most of these with the possible exception of used gun parts suppliers. Any part can be made from scratch and fitted by a competent gunsmith but you will need to decide if the gun is worth the expense.

Okay thanks for the info guys, looks like I may be SOL with this one. If anything it’ll be one hell of a wall hanger. Thanks again, and if for some reason someone comes across any parts for some reason, don’t hesitate to let me know.

If you have the broken parts, magic can be accomplished by micro Tig welding, or building up and reshaping these days.
So much depends on the specific task at hand.
