Hi all,

I am looking at buying a new rifle this summer and have decided on a laminate stainless combination. I just can't decide if I should go with a Tikka or a remington or if there are others that I shoulf look at. The caliber will be .30-06. Boring I know but I have been shooting that caliber for nealry 20 years and I know where it hits and am comfortable with it. What do you guys think

the LSS is one hell of a rifle

The #1 is a sweet rifle, float the forend, and bed the hanger, it will shoot awesome in 06, the 1B Model for sure. Nothing wrong with the 700 , it is also sweet, and will shoot very well also. Good luck with whatever you get :D great cal

Thanks guys, do you think there would be much differnce in the moutain LSS vs the BDL LSS version of the 700 other than the minor weight difference? I am leaning toward the mountan version but would like to hear some feedback from anyone that has one.

mountain rifle LSS is lighter due to trimmer stock and skinny barrel, which is 22" only

here's my Ti in a LSS stock

That is a beauty rifle for sure. I actually prefer the 22" barrel as I like things compact. I am going to look at the mountain LSS for sure. The only drawback is that I prefer a detachable mag but I belive that the mountain version only come with the floorplate. Not a huge deal but just my personal preferance.

Just as BIGREDD said, Tikka T3 LS - I have 2, both 270WSM- one for the wife so I bought another for me. The first on has a Leupold VX3 3.5x10x40 BC reticle scope in silver, the second one has a Leupold VX3 4.5x10x40 BC scope Matte. Both have Tikka optilock rings and bases.

If you want, go for a Sako Grey Wolf m75 in the 30-06. Sweet rifle. Or save the extra 550.00 and get the Tikka and buy a Leupold VX3 scope with Boone & Crocket reticle. Or if you havethe cash, SAKO and LEUPOLD scope!

Good luck in your decision.

I also own a very accurate SS T3. For me, the only problem is all the plastic parts on this rifle: mag, trigger guard and the bolt end.

I now look at the remington LSS with regrets.

If you want yourself to save 150$ on a Tikka, go with the Warne or Talley 1 piece rings very sturdy less expensive than Optilock. Don't buy Millett cr@p.

I have a Mtn Rifle in 30-06. It's plenty accurate (<1" with various factory loads, and I shot a 2 holes touching 3 shot group with handloads the other day) and of excellent proportions for a walking hunting rifle.

Due to the small stock and light weight, it's the worst kicking rifle I have. It's got quite the punch, especially with the 180's.

The only other drawback is that at the range you need to stop for 5-10 mins after every 3 shots and shoot something else or the barrel gets too hot to shoot consistently.

I've handled the LSS and Tikka Lam/Stainless, and admire them both a lot too..

You won't go wrong with any of them.

I just cant warm up to the look of the black plastic trigger guard & magazine on the laminate T3

make mine a m700 LSS, or a Sako Greywolf

I just went to look at them at Wholesale. I prefer the M700 to the Tikka. I am now trying to decide to go for the mountain LSS or the regular LSS. I prefer the stock on the mountain but I don't know if the lighter weight will make the recoil worse than I need it to be. Not that .30-06 is terrible for recoil anyway but I don't like getting smacked when I don't have to.

my Ti in the LSS stock is about 5-6 oz lighter than the steel mtn rifle, and recoil with 200 grainers isnt too bad at all...to me

I'm guessing that a Limbsaver or and R3 or Kick-eez or Decelerator would smooth out the feel of the recoil anyway. I think Wholesale has them for about $36.

As far as the rifle goes, pick the one that floats your boat, and don't look back.
