My Richards Micro Fit stock arrived today..:dancingbanana:
Question for you wood working experts.
After I do a bit of tweaking to get the action to fit what do you suggest for a finish?
I ordered the black and grey colour and would like to really make the colour and grain stand out.

hey striker... I'm working on my richards stock as well...I decided to go with the tru-oil finish on mine... seems to be easy to touch up if need be. Still sanding mine, haven't gotten to the finish stage yet. I posted a picture of mine on the rimfire site, maybe you can post a picture of yours here for the benefit of others?

A good sanding job ending up with fine sandpaper... then apply Flecto Varathane Number 66 Oil Finish... lots of it and let it soak in for 20 minutes or so keep it wet, then wipe the excess off lightly... let it sit overnight... apply it again the same way the next day... and again one day later ... let it sit a week ... lightly sand the whole stock with 400 grit wet/dry paper using more finish as a lubricant ... wipe it dry and it should look good ... water proof and very easy to touch up in the future ... very similar to Tung Oil ...

This is a 700 stock I stripped and refinished

Striker: when did you order your Richard's stock?
I just got mine the other day and I ordered it a the end of last October.

It is quite rough on the outside and the inletting looks like a beaver did the job. My action doesn't fit in right now and will need some fitting.

I also didn't get the stock type I ordered.

Mine isn't bad. I was actually impressed with the inletting. It's a $150 dollar stock so I wasn't expecting a high end job.
I have to remove some wood to get the trigger guard/ mag well to fit and do some work around the receiver tang area and my action should fit.
This is going to be a coyote rifle so I wanted something durable yet not to expensive.

Thanks for the advice guys. guntech..water proof is what I'm after as well as bringing the grain out. :)
