I like laminate better because I think it looks nicer and it has a slimmer stock making the trigger hand fit better for me.
Yes, some are loose but it happens with laminate also, you can fit slivers of wood in to tighten it up, my 54 laminate ( my shooter) was loose and I tightened it up, shoots better, I am going to try and bed it some time too! I believe the wood shrinks a bit over the years or the may get shot enough to loosen them too! Easy fix!^^ This is my experience as well. Ive had 3 SKS and first and last were laminate. My second was hardwood. it felt heavier and too big for my trigger hand. the laminate feels just right. I also found my hardwood fit the receiver a bit loose and would slide a little. I assumed it was a one-off problem but looks like im not the only one to experience it.
