Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor SRP

I’ve never had to resize either the SRP or LRP lapua in 6.5CM. I’ve used both the old blue box and new cardboard box stuff and found them to always fit with at least 3-4thou headspace clearance. Factory rifle or custom barrel/chamber?

We have one customer insisting that his brass is oversize, however we checked brass in question with a Whidden case gauge and in 3 rifles and they all were withing spec and chambered flawlessly.

Even after advising of results he insists that they are faulty.

We do not know what his chamber specs are.

Regards and thanks for comments,

Peter

Lead Hammer, thanks for response. It's unfortunate that some shooters are not aware of their chamber dimensions and won't consider that the specifications may be tight.

Peter

Never ever had an issue with Lapua. But in the last few years with 6.5 Creed and 308 Winchester factory ammo we have seen several instances where tge ammo would not fit in one rifle but would chamber in another .
All the ammunition tired was Hornady BTW, other ammo worked fine.

If his chamber is short (~.000 on the go gauge) he might have to size new brass due to brass headspace variation (i have seen ~.004) but it is not a good or bad thing.

RJ, the customer claims they won't chamber due to the width of the cases but we are confident that the chamber is under spec,

Peter

Well Peter ,I have 2 total different 6.5 CM rifles and they chamber fine in both of them . One rifle is a Custom Rem M7 with a JC barrel and the other is a factory Begara HMR . I have no problem either in my F class 284 Win or my 7-08 and my 30-06 rifles either . 😀Cheers RJ

If your customers having problems it’s on his end and not the Lapua brass. I have thousands of Lapua in 308,6.5 Creed,6BR,6Creed and 22-250. Used mainly in custom rifles but two factory guns and never any problem of any kind. Great product

The brass I have is older stock, but I didn't have to FL size them before use. I do it as a part of my new-brass routine, but I didn't have to. Can't comment on the newer stuff.

If the cases chamber without problem in several other rifles, it's likely his is undersized somehow. Are the cases you tried the actual ones he received, or another box you have on the shelf?

Is this a factory rifle or a "built" rifle?

Hi Sean, they are actual cases provided by the complainer and it is a new new rifle. It serves no benefit to size new Lapua cases, however the use of an expander mandrel for new cases is recommended as they are tight. Many top shooters also use expander mandrels as part of subsequent reloading as the uniformity of the ID is important.

Regards,

Peter
