Hey Guys
I am looking to hear from some experienced hunters/re-loaders and find out what folks prefer to hunt with. I have used the Hornady SST for sometime but my new rifle doesn't seem to like them and I think its time for an upgrade. Currently I have a really nice load worked up for this .308 using 167 Scenars which are match grade and not recommended for hunting with. I am currently looking at the Lapua 185 gr. Mega and the Barnes - Bullets .30 180gr Tipped TSX BT, so do any of you more experienced hunters/ re-loaders have opinions on these two? I will be mainly hunting deer and bears with these once I have decided and worked up a proper load for them. Thanks for your time and input.

You have to try them for accuracy - both are very good for wound ballistics, with the Mega just ahead of N. Partition in independent tests done on 6.5 bullets and published on this site and the Barnes is ahead of both. For deer you only need 130 grain solid.

Thanks Peter, I am trying to come up with a load/bullet I can use on Bears and Deer and coyotes if I want to. I am thinking of the Mega 185's right now. Do you have some in stock?

Barnard308, we have them, but you aren't listening - 185 is a moose bullet! 130 TSX Barnes are great as is the 150 gr. version and 150 gr. Lapua Mega.

Best regards,

Peter
