Lapua Or Lazzeroni

It's a tough call. Both cartridges offer everything such proprietory cartridges offer. Ammunition is expensive as are components. This helps to make them more exclusive. Both perform every bit as well as the more common commercial offerings while enabling the owner to divest himself of pesky superfluous dollars evry time he shoots.
Performance on game would be a lot better if one could just get the animals to understand they are not being shot with a common 338 Win Mag or 300 Win Mag. Sadly, most elk just don't get it! The average bull, unaware that his innards have just been pierced by a Warbird-driven bullet, simply succumbs the same as if it had come from a 30/06. A classless animal, the elk!
Little question the ownership of either of these can really add to the hunting experience. Think of the fun one can have just leaving the cartridge box prominently displayed at the hunting camp. How enjoyable to load the rifle with these uncommon cartridges using a practiced flourish and assuming a slightly smug expression. For added effect, one could perhaps let a couple of ten dollar bills flutter to the ground then step on them as he heads out on his hunt!
Yep, no doubt about it, either cartridge offers a wealth of possibilties. It requires only the use of immagination to realize their full potential. After all, it is mostly in the immagination that their superiority exists. Regards, Bill.

Although I like COOL cartridges, Lazzeroni are past the point of coolness and are now just an excuse to soend alot of $$$.:)

Im with Bartell , get yourself a 30-06:D
 
If I were to buy a large 338, I would consider the 338 RUM, has most of the horepower of the other two, but all costs are about 50% less.

I have lotso weird and wonderful calibres, but hunt with a very pedestrian calibre, because I shot the weirdies for fun and the vanilla to kill critters.
 
Well if I had to pick one of the two I would go with the Lapua......but, there isn't much I couldn't do in the field with one of the 'old' .338 caliber cartridges and for a lot less per round, plus larger selection of factory chambered rifles.
