Agh, forget about the post below. I'm a dumbass.

Tried the proper technique and now it's easy!

I'm a bolt guy but succumbed to the AR-15 illness and bought my first one, a DD V11.

Got some LAR-15 magazines.

I am having a hell of a time loading the magazines.

Very slow and beats up my thumb.

Is it me, am I doing something wrong?

They are seriously tough for me to load.

drop round on top and push down, place other round on top and push down, repeat till loaded...AR15 one of the easiest mags to load.

Let me guess trying to load them like 1911 mags or pistol mags?

Yes, you're right.

Are you talking specifically about the LAR-15 magazines? I'm doing what you say, and will try some more.

Yes I had many dozen of those. If its hard something binding up, Take it apart and re assemble. I loaded 1000s of AR15 mags even 30s ( when I was army ) mags are all designed the same. Shouldnt be hard.

Don't feel bad, I tried loading them like a pistol mag at first too. Felt pretty stupid when I realized my folly. Welcome to the AR club!

for unloading, I just use my thumb against the back of the round- just push forward, same as the bolt does in the gun; for loading, the cf issues a nifty loader but it mandates the use of clips- either metal or plastic

unloading we used to take a round and stick it in between the 2 stacked rounds push down and move the round side to side. End ex when you still got 5 30rd mags loaded and you need to re pack all the ammo, unloading them faster helps. But for 5-10rd mags its not a big deal.

Welcome to the AR club!

Thanks, but I am not sure I'll be a permanent member of the AR club.
I'm a Townsend Whelen fan, if you know the reference. I may have a like new Daniel Defense on the EE. We shall see how it unfolds.

I'll be in jail for a while if I got caught with that mag? nice tutorial and makes me jealous of our friends to the south. my .50 cal mag is close to that capacity but not quite there, unless there is something I missed??

Get an AR with a good barrel and Colonel Whelen would find it VERY interesting.

AR's can be extremely accurate.
