LAR-15 magazine

Kinda like carrying my sidearm "Unloaded" around my house in a holster and scaring the local Trick or Treaters, thats legal too right? Go ahead, let your hair flow in the wind.

Not even close in comparison. And if you piont your unloaded firearm at anyone to scare them, that would be illegal.

Remember, this is discussion forum that usually draw many answers and opinions. Is it not okay to offer more than just one word to someone who appears new.

Yup, and many of those answers are wrong. Read the law and understand them. There are no "spirits" here

Or would it compare to a national Hotline call in show, with you being the gun law Guru, with Short, and to the point, Upper Case(YES) with "Period!" answers!, with the implied intent on schooling someone, and then quickly pushing a button and moving on to the next boring question from your uninformed, neophyte audience?

Sometimes you need to get to the point because people seem to get lost in complex answers. It has already been said that they are legal and he was advised that he still might want to be careful how he uses them. Why keep asking the same question when you have been given the answer.

To keep what you have(Legal 10 round magazine), sometimes its wise to hide it once in awhile, else "You cast your pearls before swines, and they devour them and then trample you".

I did not suggest we go around flaunting our guns and annoying everyone. Why have it if you can't enjoy it? Not everyone here is going to spend all their time hiding from spirits.

If any of you out there actualy get the "Canadian Firearms Journal" (You do if you are a NFA member) then look at the December 2010 edition. On page 34 in the article "Legal Corner" it runs the article with info on the LAR-15 Pistol Mags. I won't type it out but it states that "YES THEY ARE LEGAL"...All Across Canada. Whether or not your province allows them for hunting is another question. The only limit on magazine capacity in Saskatchewan is for shotguns when hunting game birds.

Before this thread goes any further, will everyone read my original post. Nothing said the Magazines are illegal in anyway. I expressed my opinion on how to keep them that way for our future enjoyment. CNADSL8 seems to have derailed my original post's intent and now eveyone is "stating" they are legal. FFS read previous posts before stating what is already known.

I came across this for BC (here):

Hunting, trapping and firearm prohibitions
26 (1) A person commits an offence if the person hunts, takes, traps, wounds or kills wildlife

(a) that is an endangered species or threatened species,

(b) in a wildlife sanctuary,

(c) at a time not within the open season,

(d) with a firearm or a bow during the prohibited hours,

(e) by the use or with the aid of a light or illuminating device,

(f) with poison,

(g) with a set gun, or

(h) with a pump, repeating or auto loading shotgun unless the magazine contains a plug that is incapable of removal except by disassembling the gun, and that makes the magazine incapable of holding more than 2 cartridges.

(2) Subsection (1) (c), (d), (e) and (h) does not apply to a person who hunts or traps wildlife that is on the person's property and is a menace to a domestic animal or bird.

I was unable to find a restriction on mag cap for center fire rifle in BC.

From the RCMP (here):

A7. As set out in Criminal Code Regulations, some large-capacity magazines are prohibited regardless of the class of firearm to which the magazines are attached. As a general rule, the maximum magazine capacity is:

•5 cartridges for most magazines designed for a semi-automatic centre-fire long gun; or
•10 cartridges for most handgun magazines.

The term "as a general rule" implies exceptions but one would need confirmation in writing and carry that confirmation with them while hunting with a non-restricted rifle that uses the 10 round magazine in BC.

Yea when it comes to provincial wildlife laws, the criminal code applies for firearm configuration up to where specific laws in Game Habitats are covered by individual provincial laws such as caliber/energy minimuns, or Canada wide as applied to migratory game birds and the maximun number of shells allowed in repeating shotguns.:canadaFlag:
