Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a new rifle and am looking for LAR magazines. Some friends have them and can only load 9 rounds. Is this normal? Can it be easily rectified? Who makes/carries the best ones (reliable/actually fits 10 rounds)?

Thanks for your help!

I'm guessing that they installed Ranger Plates on them.......They cut the capacity to 9 rounds.

Check out CRAFM, I've bought a bunch from them and they work as advertised. Last I saw they had a huge cardboard box full of them.

As an aside, its a good idea to check your mags after you buy them. I bought a couple from a store in Northern Ontario (Ramakins I believe) and discovered that someone had chopped the follower in one of them making it able to load 13 rds. Not being a lawbreaker, I replaced it with a Magpul follower and discarded the chopped one. Now I check all my mags.

I got a few from questar and they work great with a coupler. I can not insert full 10 into a closed bolt on a tavor and ar though. Also wish they were black and not grey.

With the all black CanAm LAR-15 mags...
because of the way the mag is angled at the bottom, wouldn't the shape of two coupled together be a bit odd???
All the other LAR mags are flat bottom.. Making them look like a 30 rds mag when coupled

Wolverine sells XCR Pistol mags. They are Stainless steel instead of aluminum, have a slightly lower cut on the front, and come stock with the anti tilt follower.
I have one of those and a common ASC Lar. I have L plates on them. The ASC was upgraded with a Magpul A\T follower.
I modded my ASC by filing down the front for better feed (before I even tried it).

Both mags hold 10 and run without a hiccup in my AR.

How are .50BW mags going to work in my 5.56 chambered rifle? I don't get it, please explain what you mean.

The 50 Beowulf cartridge is designed to run in a 5.56 receiver. Just swap the upper. It even uses the same bolt.
As such, the 50 BW mags are very similar to 5.56 mags.

Is it just the barrel that is different? I understand the upper may need altering to have running reliably.
