If you had a 12ga bolt group and barrel, could you put them into a large frame 20ga Wingmaster? Or are the leaves that catch the shells in the tube tighter for the 20ga shells??

The model in question is an 80's Wingmaster, I was under the impression they stopped making standard-frame 20ga models in the 70's.

If it were just a matter of swapping the large-frame 20ga bolt and barrel into any 12ga receiver, I could put them into my nicer '51 model for shooters that Don't take recoil well.
I'm interested in purchasing a large-frame 80's Wingmaster in 20ga, and would like to use it's receiver for a 12ga build if the leaves for the mag tube are standard across the board and will accept 12ga shells...

The inside of the mag tube is smaller on the 20ga to ecept the smaller cartridge the mag tubes are silver sodered into the frame so it is not a viable convertion also the cartridge cut offs are a different size

Does anyone know if the large frame 16ga 870's will cycle 12ga with a 12ga barrel on them??

The outside of the mag tube is smaller which means the barrel ring on the 12 gauge would be very loose
